K1 Visa Interview - "Refused", 221(g) for Admin. Processing, then "Ready"?

Hi everyone! My fiancé had her interview at the Tokyo embassy on 4/1. At the end, they kept her passport and said they just needed some more time to process her documents and will contact her again soon, and also handed her a 221(g) refusal statement for administrative processing. I've heard this is a normal part of the process post-interview, but we were rather anxious about the "Refused" status in CEAC. However, we just saw that change to "Ready"....I've been told that this is a good sign, especially since they kept her passport. Could we expect to see "Issued" soon?

You are fine. State started using the refused status a few years ago as a placeholder while they did further processing...much to the consternation of everyone. The next thing you are looking for is issued. My only concern is what did the 221G notice say? Did they want additional documents?

Gotcha. It was very generic. They didn't request any documents in the form they gave her, just highlighted "administrative processing" under 221(g).
