Hello there,

April 10th document submission. Police certificate was rejected.

Got a message to upload police certificate from the right issuing authority. Not sure what this issue is as it is from the correct authority if I look on the NVC Reciprocity website for Canada.

@ClemsonC would you be willing to show me a copy of your accepted police certificate I

Is your canadian police certificate rejected ?

Yes, this is what I have and I am planning on uploading it to CEAC soon-ish. I have only been to Canada for less than 3 months and they still asked me to get one as part of required documents. For now we have a letter from my attorney explaiingg why this is not needed for DQ, but my feeling is that by the time interview time rolls around, I will have lived in Canada for about 6 months and they will ask for a police certificate from Canada at that point (or the NVC officer may decide to rfe in anticipation of this).

Police/Prison Records

Available

Fees:  There are no fees.

Document Name:

For Korean national applicants:  Criminal (Investigation) Records Check Reply ‘For permission of foreign country immigration and stay’ “Bomjoi-Soosakyongryeok Hoiboseo: Waekuk Yipkuk-Chaeryu Heogayong”

For Foreign national applicants:  Criminal Records Certificate “Bomjoikyungryeokjeungmyungseo”

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/SouthKorea.html

Korean nationals

You must submit a criminal (investigation) records check report (범죄· 수사경력 회보서) where the “scope of reference” indicates “For permission of foreign country immigration and stay” (외국 입국 체류 허가용).

Foreign nationals

If you’re a foreign national who has lived in South Korea for 6 consecutive months or longer since the age of 18, you must submit a background check (criminal records) certificate (신원조사(범죄경력)증명서).

Thanks for the clarification. Now that I think about it, we submitted the second one (background check (criminal records) certificate 신원조사(범죄경력)증명서) for both of us when we entered Canada, which is why I thought they would be the same for both of us for the US also. I did submit the first one (criminal (investigation) records check report 범죄· 수사경력 회보서 외국 입국 체류 허가용) to CEAC. So, I submitted the correct form it seems.

Yes it was rejected. I don’t know why.

This is the one I submitted on  April 7th. It's showing documents accepted but got message to submit proof of eligibility (status in canada) to have interview in Canada.  I don't know why I am living here from last 10 years.  Now have to wait another 2.5 months.

My best guess is that it’s only in my married name and not my maiden name. Others from Canada have confirmed this is the right version

might be the case, hope for the best :)

So from what I've gathered is that this is the correct one.

Now I just need to figure out why mine was rejected. The only thing I can possibly think of is that they might want two, one in my married name and one in my maiden name.

You would think if that was the case I would have come across it being mentioned several times (or at all) on any of the Canada groups/threads I follow but it hasn't. The certificate I submitted matches the name in my passport & DS-260 (except for maiden name which I indicated on the DS-260). I did include my maiden name in the application for this certificate in other names used but it doesn't actually show on the official document.

The message from NVC said to submit acceptable record from correct issuing authority which doesn't make any sense, because it is 100% from the correct issuing authority.

From what I was told is since you have your marriage certificate showing you legally have that name that it shouldn’t matter.
plus it’s a finger prints based search.

my passport I submitted: maiden name

my RCMP certificate: my married name

my ds260: maiden name

I just got an updated passport to update my last name to my married name the other day and I’m about to upload it to ceac.

No I was on study permit earlier then on work permit meanwhile I got married to US citizen I didn't apply for Permanent residency in Canada as my plans were to move in USA with my spouse. Now my workpermit is expired and applied for another one which is still under process.  So that's why I am wandering if anyone went through similar situation just update me or advise 🤔

I am in a similar situation as yours and my consulate office is going to be in my home country. So do you want to be able to do it in Canada or did NVC tell you you must do it in Canada and is now asking for your eligibility to stay in Canada?
