My wife had the interview at the Embassy in Tokyo on April 1st. It seems that it was successfully finished cause her passport along with all other documents was taken by the embassy.

On the other hand, it was requested that my cousin (whom is affidavit) submit his most recent W2/ 1040.  This wasn’t written in the email for her interview that this was needed.

Based on what my wife told me, they said everything was fine and that her passport would be back to her in a weeks time. They said please submit the documents as soon as we could.

Has anyone else every had this issue?

To answer your question:

COs can ask for an updated I864 and sometimes if a lot of time has passed since the I864 was submitted. And some members go to the interview with an updated I864 recent 1040/W2.

From reading around the forum February/March/April is always a little complicated as 2020 or 2021 taxes can be requested. (previous/most recent tax year).

@Kor2USA thank you for the information. You have always been helpful. This kind of what I figured. My cousin has filed for the year yet as expected. Therefore no 1040/W2 to give.

I am assuming she we get her passport sent back with her stamps and as soon as we can get the document it will need to be submitted. Am I correct?

Look forward to your response.

I think that's how it works. Not sure how fast the Japan Embassy is... but if they kept the passport you should be good to go once you submit the updated documents.
