Yes. I meant it is an "interview" so i expect a few questions

Of course there will be questions, but nothing to prepare for or to be worried about if your relationship is bona fide.

Just make sure you have your documents organized in a binder, so that you don't have to be scrambling in a bag to find them.

My wife and I had a bad interview experience. I have a bona fide marriage. We have been married for almost 3 years. We waited 2.5 years for the interview. During the interview I have been interrogated for 2 hours. My wife was allowed to speak for only 30 seconds during the entire interview. I wish we would have came with an attorney. It has been 6 weeks since the interview and we haven't received any response.

If you want to read more about my interview:

We did our interview on March 31, 2022 in Houston, Texas.  Was surprised that they did another Biometric.  Interview was very straight forward, how did you meet, how do you like living where you are at, Do you work, just simple stuff like that.  The most important thing was the paperwork.  They kept all the stuff we had to submit:  Tax returns for two years, Marriage Certificate, Proof of Health Insurance, Bank account information showing that we had a joint account.  Copies of bank transactions like checking and saving information and they kept all the pictures and items of proof that  supported we have an on-going marital relationship.   If you are legit in your relationship there should be no problem.

After reading through the link you provided and other issues you faced , I hope your wait is proactive ( get immigration attorney and prepare for NOID on marriage fraud  ( they will state u entered into marriage for immigration benefits and then fine tooth comb and take apart ALL bonafides , including bonafides / timeline of K-1 , address issues on AOS, self-employment or unemployment statements.ur custody agreement .).

You were given a heads up when I-131 denial stated reasons …your case is w FDNS and they will talk to neighbors, businesses u were associated with..review all social media and more)

Unrelated ….but In one instance,  they listed in the NOID an airline trip taken with an ex spouse, pointed to the seating arrangement ( next to each other) and quoted the answers given to customs..

You can overcome, but will need help, I don’t recommend continuing to DIY..an example being when Officer told you Affidavits from friends should have included ID…by now your attorney would have had you get new Affidavits notarized using Jurats ( not reg )…

Did your ex and 2 kids get their I-485 approved yet?

Our officer was very cold towards us. He told me I am not allowed to speak and he nearly slammed the door at us. I wanted so badly to say something to him about how he shouldn't treat people in this way, but I didn't want to impact my husband's immigration status. So I just bit my tongue.

He didn't ask my husband anything other than asking my husband's name, birthday, and a few of those questions they ask you  on the I-485 form if you are a criminal/in a gang/etc., where he answered No. Nothing about our relationship or how we met or the wedding or anything. In the end, he said we seem like a real couple and sent us away after 5 minutes. Our online status updated later that day.

I agree with you on taking a non confrontational stance and focusing on the outcome. Plus rebuking him for his own bad behavior would have  gone in one ear and out the other.  Writing to Field Office Director about your treatment, may reach the right ear.
Congrats to you and your husband.

I asked the CO whether we should resubmit the affidavits, with the IDs, and he said "no" and that we should wait for their decision. It would be great if the USCIS would talk to neighbors or do a home visit. There are many people in our building who can testify that I have been living with my wife in the same apartment for the last 3 years. I just don't know if the USCIS will go through all this hassle.

My ex and my 2 kids were not approved yet. But I am not familiar with their immigration case.

Whatd they ask you?

not my experience, but one of my friend just went for AOS interview last week in manhattan (NYC) office. she said before the interview started, the IO said " i dont need anything extra documentations from you, and i dont need to have more pictures".

she brought the whole big folders and didnt need to submit it.

less than 15 mnts more like conversation. how you guys met, when was it, what do u do for work. the petitioner ( my friend's husband ) is more nerrvous than my friend ( the beneficiary).

not approve on spot, but there's no red flag ( 9 years gap, the petitioner 35 and the benefciary is 26), 5 years dating, friend is DACA and has been in the states since she was 10

Everything on VJ is self-reported, and it seems that applicants with truly complex cases, or applicants who like to research or question a lot, are the types of applicants more likely to report their experiences.

But the interview process can often turn out as a "non event" as Boiler described it.

Hope for the best ( approval) and prepare for the worst ( NOID). You also have a VERY SUPPORTIVE USC wife ..so I wish the best for both. Even longggg delays by USCIS, perhaps strategic to see if marriage lasts , the both of you can get through.
Thank you for answering Re ex and kids I-485..since we can both assume they looked closely at their cases too..

God Bless and God Speed

Our interview was pretty quick (~15 minutes), felt like more of a formality, not particularly friendly or unfriendly officer.

Qs were very generic:

- How did you meet?

- Where do you live?

- Have you met each other's families?

- Who's who on these photos?

Other questions were formality. Approved on a spot.
