Does the I-864 need a cover letter for myself (the petitioner and sponsor) and/or the sole joint sponsor?

Not required, but if you think some kind of explanation will be helpful to your case, there is not harm in providing such a letter.

Where is the best place to upload the cover letter for the I-864 on CEAC? Is there a specific spot or do I add it as the first page of the I-864?

If you upload a cover letter, make it the first page of the I-864 pdf file.

My dad is the only joint sponsor.

I sent him both the cover letter and the signature page to print, sign, and scan.

He did.

But when I merge them to the rest of the I-864, his scans are about 3% bigger than the rest of the document.

Is this a real problem or am I overthinking it? See attached photo for difference. Screenshot_51.png.0d007d3f52b3de6a794fac72e0b53edc.png

I did send a cover letter but only because I used the FEIE to save on taxes, and that skews my income artificially low. So I wrote a cover letter, in a separate PDF, explaining how much I actually made and why that income doesn’t show up on the I-864.
