Hi everyone,

I recently had my visa approved, and am now preparing to move to the States.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations on removal companies?

Thanks!

Ben

my thoughts to you - don't bring most of what you are thinking of bringing.

I moved to the states at the start of April, sent 6 boxes of belongings over with Pack & Send (great service and price), but they arrived a day or so ago and now I realise it was so pointless sending clothes and other belongings. If I could go back and just send my games console and sentimental items in 1 box I would do.

Honestly the options for shopping here are 200x better than in the UK, all your old stuff won't seem so nice anymore haha

That's helpful advice, thanks.

I think I am going to keep a few clothes I have with me here but get rid of the rest. I do have a couple of bikes I want to bring with me though, and a few other bits that aren't clothes.

How was the process of moving? Did everything go smoothly through customs when you got over there?

I entered through Toronto before flying down to Pittsburgh, it was very simple. Just got taken to a 2nd room at the passport desks, the guy took a new address for my green card to be sent to, and I was through within 5 minutes.

No issues whatsoever.

Hopefully it will be the same for you!

Have you researched the price of flying with your bikes?

For us it is $200 per bike...

My advice is to not ship anything that is easily replaceable and try to figure out if paying for an extra bag or two is better than shipping items over.

I've shipped things over before and had boxes lost or take months to arrive and then I discover many things are ruined due to water damage.
