Holy freaking #######. Our lives go from bad to worse. :crying: My fiance lives in an apt building and he went down last night to check his mail and laying OUT in the open NOT in his locked mailbox was his envelope from Montreal! It was dated June 10, 2007. BUT The interview date said July 5, 2006!!! I guess I should have been emailing the stupid Montreal people about the date but the last time I called which was at the end of March the guy was really rude and said it'll be 4 to 6 months. I honestly didn't expect it to be in JULY. Not only that but I would expect the stupid to be at least 4 weeks ahead of time AND have the correct date on it. It came a month early the last two times it was scheduled and got to him ok. Then of course there's the whole thing with the YEAR being WRONG.

What do we do now?? Do I call my congressman's office and beg them to see about getting us a new date set that won't be another 6 months?

I'm so sick of all this :crying: We've suffered so much already with his illness and now this...it just doesn't end.

Anyone have any suggestions? Please help

Oh man, that really really sucks. The only thing you could do is contact Montreal and explain that he only *just* got the interview letter due to mishaps with the postal service in his building.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Wow... thats insane. I would agree with everyone and call MTL ASAP. I know they extend the validity of the I129 approval for a while so I would call Monday as Liz said and explain to them and hopefully they have not returned the package back to NVC. (Knowing how slow MTL is I doubt they would have already)

Good Luck.

Yes I will definitely point that out. :( What happens if they sent it back to the NVC ? :( At what point should I get my Congressman involved?

The reason I mention my congressman is because I don't want to have to wait another 4-6 months. That's not fair because the mail delivery got screwed up AND the date was wrong too. I was hoping for September or something. I know we can't pick and choose dates .......but this is a different scenario :(

I would start getting your congressman involved now too.. It could easily take him/her a few days as it is to get started on the case and with all the mistakes and such Mtl has made with your case.. I think they could use a push for your case..

a gentle push

Also when you call the consulate tomorrow (2 p.m. EST!), write down notes from the conversation, time and get the name of the person you are speaking to. Not sure if they give out last names (they might not) but get at least their first name. Document everything. If emailing them later, mention the previous phone conversations you had on <insert date and time> with <name of staff person> regarding <specifics of your case>. You want everything well laid out in written communication with the consulate and your congressperson.

If I were you, I'd contact my congressperson tomorrow after speaking to Montreal. Then you can lay it all out for them as to what Montreal's response was.

well that sucks, damn Canada post!! No big advice, but be polite onthe phone, I'm sure it has happened before (what, canada post screw up,lol) And if ya dont get any positive news fromthe person, thank them, then contact ur congress dude.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I don't know what's going to happen even IF they let us reschedule. We've already had to do it twice ,and because of his illness I'm scared he's not going to pass the medical even if he eventually gets an interview again. I don't know. Nothing is working in our favour at all. Nothing. :(
