I-130 and DS-260 Questions

My wife (Chinese) and I (US Citizen) live in Shanghai, we're about ready to submit the I-130 form online to eventually get a green card.  I have a couple questions, I would appreciate it a lot if someone can help.

1. Do translations of supporting documents for the I-130 and the original documents have to be uploaded as one file, or can they be uploaded as two separate files?

2. After the I-130 is approved how much time would we have to gather documents and submit DS-260 before the application is cancelled?  We may have to go back to her hometown for some documents, so we're not sure if the I-130 processing time would be enough, we might have to wait for the next step after I-130 is finished.

For China, typically any supporting documents in Chinese will be a single multiple page document obtained from the Notarial Office.  (Gong Zheng Chui)

Once the petition is approved (Think next year sometime.) you'll have at least a year of time you can delay at NVC if you want.  No reason to wait to obtain documents though.  Get them when it's convenient for you.

So are you saying that for the I-130 we need the notarial marriage certificate from the Gong Zheng Chui, NOT the original marriage certificate from when we registered?

I found a different thread you replied to, the answer is yes.  Fortunately we haven't submitted the I-130 yet, so we can go get that first and avoid an RFE, thanks for you help pushbrk!

Assuming you married in China, the original marriage book would be in Chinese only.  So yes, you need the Notarial Document.  Often the Notarial Booklet contains a photocopy of the little red marriage book.  Do you have something different?

USCIS will only accept the Gong Zheng Chu translations for Chinese documents.
