I've been waiting for my interview appointment for 8 months now

Meaning I shouldn't expect the schedule anytime soon?

yes expect after 15 months. For you to get the letter.

We all wish the waiting period was significantly shorter but unfortunately it's not for Islamabad consulate. You're more than half way there in terms of waiting game. So good luck.

The pace of the consulate really surprises me. India is currently Interviewing people with DQ November 2021 dates. Why can't Islamabad Embassy speed up the process

Each consulate is different. You may submit an expedite request at the consulate if you believe you have a valid reason (pertaining to the petitioner/US Citizen) for expediting your case.
