Regarding water-heaters (not yet discussed here), I found a wholesaler that sells chiefly to contractors but also to the public.  I've gotten two State heaters from there.  It's been easy to find people to pick them up and deliver them.  State is apparently #2 in the industry (for quality), with A.O. Smith or whoever bought them (Bradford?) as #1.

That is something I want if we even build a house.

So Monday the guy came and put the same rail system in the drawer as my fix. Well when he left I was putting food back in the drawer and it did not close easily. I had to try several times before it actually closed. After that it was fine, that is until this afternoon. Took cheese out for the kid's lunch and the drawer didn't budge. Tried over and over and over and over it took close to a dozen times for it to close. This tells me the wire once again is getting in the way and the track/rail of the drawer will cut the wire again. Called Samsung Office of the President to speak to my assigned CSR only to go straight to her voicemail. The ghosting has started :girlwerewolf2xn:

Our hot water heater isn't exactly a spring chicken, so we're debating whether to fork over the cash and do the upgrade.

During Snovid here in TX, it would have been bad unless we had a battery backup, but even then, we had no power for an extended period so dunno if the battery would have held out.  The ole gas heated unit held true during the outage, so we could pop into a hot shower by flashlight (the romance of it!) to warm up.  Since then, we invested in a whole home generator, so we'd be pretty set (I hope!).

Oh yes that is something to think about. I wouldn't spend the money for this house, but a new house that I will actually like sure. But you made a good point with the battery. For some reason I didn't know it was a battery set up. Hmm

We had a house in AB that we bought with warranty.  I made good use of that warranty.  That's what it's there for, right?  I swear the lady who used to answer the emails used to see my name pop up and be like "what NOW?!" Guessing you're having the same great fortune! Ughhh

You can get a battery backup.  I don't believe its standard.  But I live in Texas...the state that thinks it could secede...until something tough happens :D.

Had one once that was working fine, but it was 14 years old.  Replaced it as a preventive measure.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Considering the ####### quality of the water here, I suspect it’s volume is significantly reduced from mineralization, anyway.

While we're on the home improvement/appliance topic, I need a new garbage disposal. Does anyone have any recommendations? Current is Insinkerator, thought about just replacing it with the same brand.

Insinkerator is fine.  Kenmore is also good, if you can find it.  Just make sure that whatever you get, if it's different from what you now have, will fit under the sink in terms of unit size and piping configuration.

I have chickens, the ultimate garbage disposal.

I've actually never had a garbage disposal, the dishwasher is totally new too. Like about 3 yrs of having one. Never had one before and I sure don't want to be without one now either 😆

The locals think we're nuts, but we took the garbage disposal out.  Apparently it's a very American thing.  Never had one in Canada and hubs moved all over the place as an expat kid and never encountered one until he moved here.
