I have been trying to fill out the I-134 PDF provided by the USCIS at https://www.uscis.gov/i-134. There are certain fields that I can't seem to edit. I tried using various different programs to try to edit the fields, but I'm having the same result every time. I've seen sites that provide an option to type everything in and get a PDF, but I don't feel comfortable providing the personal information required to sites I'm unfamiliar with. Has anyone had this problem and know of a workaround? Otherwise, I think I'll have to print it off and hand write it out.

I've tried downloading it multiple times. I've tried using different computers, operating systems, and PDF editing software. I get the same results every time. Some of the fields are different colors and can't be edited. I can't put my apartment number in the mailing address. The fields for employment information can't be edited.

Have you tried Preview on MacOS?

I don't have a Mac. Thanks for the suggestion.

So various USCIS forms don’t cooperate with me and so I use Preview and add a new text field and it over troublesome field of a form to get the result I want.

I had the same issue. I found that once I downloaded it and was "offline" it cooperated better. Parts I couldn't type I just wrote by hand.

I've tried several different programs and when I try to edit certain fields, I'm getting a message that there is some kind of security block on the file. It looks I'll just have to print it out, fill it out by hand, and scan it back in. I was just hoping there was a way to do this electronically. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Up in the Menu there is a "Add text " Button. Use that and then type in the info.

Another idea is to disable Java within Adobe Acrobat. This allows for free text entry into fields that are otherwise limited to certain text type, like letters where numbers should be expected. I had to do this in my own forms. Maybe it will work in your situation.

Not all of my info would fit into the fields (too long names, addresses etc), so I just filled out whatever I could on the computer and wrote the rest by hand. I did that with pretty much all paper forms from petition and visa to greencard and citizenship, never had an issue.
