What is your biggest achievment in life?

Up to this point it is that at 51 years old I'm still alive and well. Everything else pales in comparison.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

I chose "other". I consider my biggest achievement that I was able to work long enough at the same company to retire. I achieved that in November 2005 when my job was eliminated but I luckily had JUST enough "points" to actually retire at 46 years old. Yippee!!!! I rolled the pension over into an IRA and since then have enjoyed the fruits of my labor with my monthly distribution. My financial advisor B) rocks B) and hopefully he'll never send me a postcard from Fiji :P

that's a tough question. i've achieved a lot of my short term goals. that is something i am proud of! when i set a goal for myself, i go for it! my main goal for my 20's has been to travel and experience life in the fast lane. i've traveled the world to many countries and done many crazy things around the globe. that is something i've always set out to do and i DID IT. and i still will for the rest of my life. that goal will definitely will never go away.

there are a whole set of other goals i have achieved, and others i am currently working on that i'd rather keep private. things regarding achivements in school, jobs, volunteering, etc.

I'd say that my biggest achievement in life so far was getting my education. My mom was a single mom and we didn't have money, but she always stressed to my sisters and I how important school is. My older sister and I are college educated and we have good jobs where we can take care of ourselves - and we both strive to get our Master's degrees. My younger sister is in college and doing very well - currently working abroad for the summer through a school program.

I've been able to travel A LOT as well - while studying - and am very happy to have experienced so much in my 25 years of life. Now I'm happily married.

I've had many achievements along the way, but I would say that the biggest, hardest, and most life changing on thusfar was recovering from my surgery.

I say 'thusfar' cos I'm not done yet, ;)

And from your story about your surgery its a miracle that you are alive!!! So, yes that is a HUGE achievement!!:)

Number one on my list is recovering from a major stroke (if you looked at me, you would never have guessed my entire left side was paralyzed at one point).

Second on my list are a couple of professional things -- being published in a historical journal, and having some of my research work permanently and publicly displayed on information panels in a town I worked for.

I still say the best is yet to come!

Lisa,

I've never read your story about your surgery. Do you have a link to it somewhere so that I can read it? I looked in your profile, but I can't find it there. I would like to read it, if you don't mind. Thanks.
