Hello,

I am just starting the whole cr1 visa journey! My husband and I are looking threw all the information in the I130 petition filled out by our lawyer and we see that the consulate I will be taking my interview says Ottawa. Do they actually do them there? I thought it was Montreal only. I asked our case manager and she said that yes they do but I just want to make sure in advance before we send out the petition for good!

thank you:)

Montreal is the only consulate in Canada for immigrant visas.

As you already see, the interview will be in Montreal.  If your lawyer of their staff entered Ottawa, this indicates they have little if any experience with family based immigration to the US.  Caveat Emptor!

Thank you! I just let the case manager know to change that ASAP!

It doesn't really matter.  The National Visa Center deals with assigning the Consulate and they'll assign Montreal anyway.  My larger concern is the indication you've hired a professional who doesn't know what they are doing.

Yes I agree, we just switched over to a different case manager and she is so much better with her stuff so far. Of course I was not happy that she made an error there, that is not okay as we are paying them to do things properly. Thank you

I think what people are trying to say is that you need to dump your lawyer. Just because you have a new case manager, does not mean that there won't be issues with them in the future. Unless you have a difficult case, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to ever even need an attorney. Save yourself the money and DIY if you can, you will have all of the control over your own case. Day after day in here we see people come to say that their lawyer screwed up even the simplest of tasks(a lot of times with dire consequences) and now you can add yourself to that list. I don't apologize for being so blunt because it's the truth.

While I think it is completely unwarranted to advise against using legal or professional assistance in general, AND it's actually against the terms of service here, IMO, I....AM...trying to say DUMP THIS LAWYER,  It's because they don't know about family based immigration, AND they are not checking the work of their "case manager" whatever "case manager" means in this situation.

Most "immigration lawyers" don't actually do family based immigration, because that's not where the money is.
