I'm currently working on these affidavits so that was very helpful, thank you. Did you have the same issue with your BC?

Well, mine isn't the same problem though. In my case, my father's name has a spelling variation on my birth certificate & all my other documents have his name spelled differently by 2 letters. So I am just playing safe by keeping all the additional documents just in case the need arises for it at the time of interview. For now NVC has accepted my BC though. However, consulates have the right to scrutinize further.

Glad I was able to be of some help to you. Good luck.

NVC accepted my hospital birth record in lieu of BC without a murmur. They rejected another document because I hadn't uploaded the blank back side. It's crazy. Anyway, thanks again and good luck to you too.

Oh man! That is the same issue we had too. I864ez was rejected stating the blank page is missing. Now we have resubmitted it.

Wait, do I still need affidavits and other secondary evidence if I have a proper BC at the interview?

I must apologize but i just realized you are going to the interview based on marriage, so you WILL NOT be subjected to BIG scrutiny of such a delayed registration of your birth certificate.. so they may accept less than listed as alternate docs.
BUT if you ever plan to petition for any of your own family ( parents, siblings) you will definitely need those.

AND kudos to you for catching what NVC missed so you have a chance to prepare.

I'm VERY glad to know there won't be too much scrutiny. We're gathering as much secondary evidence as possible, hoping it will be enough. I couldn't get the NABC or a similar doc though. Hope that won't be a problem since the relevant municipal authority refuses to issue it now. Very grateful to you and @Mike E for making me aware of the pitfalls of delayed registration of birth. Didn't know it was such a big deal.

Well, the trick is; if you prepare for the worst, it may never happen.

So go ahead with the preparation & keep the secondary documents ready. Really, it's the consulates that can tell you for sure whether or not they care to scrutinize your BC. I don't think they are that predictable either, so I would go with additional documents whenever my turn comes.

I mean, don't forget, even the blank page means a lot to them. How less can a Birth Certificate mean!? Just saying...

I am a big fan of prepare for the worst & hope for the best . And IF the Consulates apply the wrong standards ( in case of marriage, delayed reg is not an issue if you’ve cleared security checks in ur country..only an issue when establishing parental/sibling “  familial  relationships “) then YOU reach into your bag of tricks AND challenge!

Great input!

Okay guys, so here's the plot twist. Turns out, my birth was ACTUALLY registered with the municipal authorities the day after I was born. Apparently, the hospital made it a practice to send off their records to the municipality to make sure everybody got properly registered. My parents had no clue about any of this registration business. TODAY, 42 years later, I got my BC and I'm elated! However, I did upload the wrong document with NVC so I'm going to go prepared with affidavits and other secondary evidence. Hoping this doesn't cause a delay or something worse.

You are all safe then. Don't worry.
