Looking for advice regarding the following scenario -

* Parents traveled to the US last year for 2 months (Oct ‘21 - Dec ‘21)

* they again traveled to the US this year in March ‘22 and they were planning on staying until Aug ‘22 as we thought you can stay for 6 months on B2 per calendar year

* upon entry the IO verbally told that them that they can only stay for 4 months this time as they had already stayed for 2 months last year - but then issued an I-94 that’s valid for 6 months

* do they need to return within 4 months or can they stay until the I-94 date?

i will follow what the CBP verbally just to be sure. dont want to risk it, just in case the next time they got back and ( please read it below) this happened.

it happened to my friend's father few years ago. he keep going back and forth to US with tourist visa. he's old like 70 something and he got stopped when he landed in LAX.  the option either he got deported or he can buy / change his own ticket and go back to his country on his own will to avoid his tourist visa revoked. he choose the 2nd but he was "kept" in the office in LAX almost 2 days without food and water. he avoided to travel to US with tourist visa after that and came back last year when he finally got GC from my friend's petition
