221G

Hello everyone 

     My fiancé had her k1 interview on the 11th of this month and she was given a 221g to bring an original birth certificate and after send it thru DHL with her passport. She got it and sent both documents to the embassy in Kenya. Does anyone know or has anyone gone thru the process of 221g? How long does the embassy take to respond back? It’s really getting expensive for her to stay in a hotel in Kenya for unspecified time frame. 
 

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Why would she need to stay in a hotel?

 

AP can last for weeks, months etc.  If they approve and issue the visa, they can send the passport to her home.

Yes but she is from another country (Uganda) and she did her interview in Kenya coz it handles family based visas. So she has to stay and wait for her passport.

There is no guaranteed timeframe for a response from the embassy.  Could be days, weeks, or months.  Be prepared to stay for a long time if returning to home country to wait out the visa processing is not the plan.

It’s just so frustrating hope we could get some kind of answers on when they they will work on the case ☹️
