    • It wasn't so bad, except for the lack of laundry!

I think that waiting for five years to be married was actually a good thing for both of us. We learned everything there was to know about each other, without sex getting in the way.

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

April A friend told me that she thought my ideal man lived in Wyoming or Montana.

May 17 Did search on match.com. Found no-one in Wyoming. Only wrote to one person in Montana...his name was John. He replied two hours later.

Jun 26 Flew to Missoula to meet him & a weekend trip turned into a five week visit...

Many trips between US, Canada & Europe.

2005

March 31 During a meeting in Vancouver, John proposed & I said YES!!!

Jun 2 Finally sent off our I-129F & a few days later we received NOA1. I am now officially an alien bride-to-be.

Aug 22 Email notification of NOA2.

Sep 12 Received letter to say application would be forwarded to US Embassy.

Nov 23 Returned packet 3 to Embassy

Nov 30 Medical

2006

Jan 5 Got interview date

Feb 1 Interview. APPROVED!

Feb 2 Visa delivered.

Feb 7 Flight to Seattle.

Feb 8 Finally back home in Missoula, MT. I'm happy, John's happy & the cats are ecstatic - together again!

Apr 22 Wedding Day!

May 6 Sent AOS application

May 7 Honeymoon

May 23 NOA date for AOS, EAD & AP

Jun 12 Biometrics

Jun 15 RFE for AOS mailed

Jun 20 RFE received

Aug 16 RFE reply sent

Aug 31 AP approved!

Sep 5 EAD approved

Sep 8 AP received

Nov 13 Interview letter

Dec 14 Interview. Success!

Well we're not even done waiting.Couldn't even put the petition in when we wanted to last March because there was a nasty surprise and his divorce has not been finalized yet.Now we have to wait until he's got a new job since he just lost his in May due to the company not having enough work for everybody......We're hoping to put the I 129 F in by November now.

I think it's a little easier for me than it is for him.Especially at this point in time.He's really not doing too well and puts a lot of pressure on me.

BUT: if we can make THIS than we'll last forever.

I take the view that I can hate it, get depressed etc and wait, or not mind it, and wait..either way I have to WAIT.

There's no getting round the WAIT - so I chose to be ok about it. It's not ideal but then few things in life are, are they? There's really nothing *I* can do to hurry things along; and panicking / getting upset sure won't improve my life much :lol: - I'm taking the time to remember all the things about the UK I can - the accents, the sights (I'm near London), the food, tv etc..and tie up as many loose ends as possible.

People are apart all the time as well - spouses of members of the armed forces to name but one group - and they cope mostly. If they can manage it then so can I. It won't BE forever. :)

Sept 2002 - 1st US visit - everything goes perfectly.

Dec 20th - Forms recev'd at CSC

Dec 27th - NOA1 received by snail mail!

Dec 29th - 'Touched'

March 10 2006 - NOA2!

March 23 - recv'd at NVC

March 24 - petition sent to London

April 9th - Pkt 3 rec'd!

May 17th - Pkt 3 signed for at London Embassy

May 24th - Medical

May24th - Pkt 4

June 14th - Interview 10am - APPROVED 1pm!!

June 16th - Visas received in my hot little hands 1pm :)

July 19th - flying to US!

July 27th - Married!! :-)

Aug 7th - Applied for SSN in married name

Aug 9th - SSN received

Since we're still in the process, aren't married, and the poll seems to only be for married people or those who are now together, I didn't vote.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

If I go by the old adage, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.", then I guess we were made stronger. But it was very difficult for us having to be apart when we had been able to live together for over a year. It feels like you're going backwards in a way.

IMHO, nothing is better than actually being together...

It made us VERY strong....because all we had in between visits was communication. We HAD to talk and we got to know each other very well. Not that we haven't had some adjusting to do now that he's here....but it's minor.

The wait was hard...the separation was, at times, torture...but I believe the wait was good for us. We took our time...and I think that's what has made it work for us. :luv:

Although, I have to agree with Jenn...there IS nothing better than being together.

Same with us -- Jerry is a very impatient man at times -- and this was one of those times! :) It forced him to slow down and get prepared, and we talked about everything.....so much so that we felt like we had known each other forever. We didn't have to wait as long as some people had and continue to have to wait, but it was long enough!

I have to agree with the OP. It's been good to really get to know each other without the sexual stuff getting in the way. We're nowhere near done waiting yet though. But the wait so far has made our relationship deeper and stronger.
