Some questions about the NVC process

I reviewed the guide listed here, although I don't know how accurate it is because it seems quite old. My beneficiary's country is Sri Lanka.

Here are the steps I gathered:

1) NVC receives case from USCIS
2) NVC assigns a case number and Invoice ID number
   A) I call repeatedly to get the case and invoice number
   B) I tell the operator to register both petitioner and benecifiary email addresses otherwise all communication will be through physical mail
3) I check the NVC portal everyday until DS-261 is available. Once available, I fill it out on behalf of the beneficiary in the NVC portal
4) After submitting the DS-261, I will check everyday until AOS fee is available and I pay that
5) I check NVC portal everyday until IV fee is available and I pay that
6) I check everyday until DS-260 is available and then I fill it out on behalf of the beneficiary in the NVC portal
7) For the AOS package, I will UPLOAD I-864, my last year tax return transcript, my employment letter, my last 3 pay stubs
😎 For the IV package, I will upload (on behalf of beneficiary) her unexpired passport, photocopy of birth certificate, photocopy of marriage certificate, photocopy of police certificate

Can anyone verify the above steps?

My questions:

1) What VISA classification is CR1? I can't find it on https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/SriLanka.html

2) How do we know an interview is scheduled (or when it is scheduled)? Will my beneficiary literally receive a mail letter?

3) Isn't the police certificate supposed to be gotten when the interview is scheduled?

4) The "U.S. Visa: Reciprocity and Civil Documents by Country" lists some requirements for the Marriage Certificate. However, we got our marriage certificate from Bahamas cause that's where we got married....it is not registered in Sri Lanka. Will this be a problem?

CR1 is spouse visa

glish

NVC

will notifiy u of new case #

then send a notice to pay the 2 fees

AOS and ds 260

after the fees are marked paid,  you can go online to fill out the I 864 (USC) and ds 260 (this one should be done by immigrant)

you send supporting documents

copy of police report(along with English translation) and tax documents

Marriage certificate does not have to be registered in Sri Lanka/ its legal no matter where u marry

the originals are taken to the interview

NVC will send the letter of interview to the USC along with any other originals that are needed for the interview
