Hello,

76 year old mother applied for Citizenship in sept 2020. Still did not got interview. She did her biometrics twice. Both time got biometrics were rejected by FBI. According to  Biometrics supervisor they told my mom that

because of Age the finger lines are gone. They wont be able to take good fingerprinting. USCIS should come with other method to proceed. But again today she got 3rd biometric appointment.

so sure this will fail. What can be done, How to schedule interview with out biometrics, as already twice it failed.

Please help, she is old.

Thanks

My understanding is that after two failed biometrics, she is supposed to be told to get police records from every place she has lived at in the past 5 years.

They can’t do this indefinitely so legal representation might be required.

Often happens with age

she will have to attend this appointment but she should ask for a waiver and let the officer know this is the 3rd attempt

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-1-part-c-chapter-2

A USCIS employee responsible for overseeing a person’s fingerprinting may grant the waiver if all of the following requirements are met:

  • The applicant, petitioner, beneficiary, sponsor, derivative, requestor, or individual person filing or associated with a benefit request appeared in person for the biometrics collection;

  • The officer or authorized technician attempted to fingerprint the person (or determined that such an attempt was impossible); and

  • The officer determines that the person is unable to be fingerprinted at all or is unable to provide a single legible fingerprint.
