Just got an email from the NVC, we have an interview scheduled in 2 weeks in HCMC, Vietnam.

We need to schedule a medical as soon as possible, and my wife hasn’t had her flu shot yet. Do we have enough time to do all this and be ready for the interview?

I would schedule the medical asap, and go to the interview regardless of whether the medical exam is done before or after the interview.

its already spring here, so she probably doesn't need the flu shot. she can call and check with uscis for that.

the most important thing is get the appointment first and get the fastest date that you can get by start calling all the panel physician in the area

Congrats on interview. I’ve read reports here where medical was incomplete at interview but didn’t adversely effect outcome. Can you tell me the date you received your document qualified (DQ) notice from NVC? I saw your timeline but still wasn’t sure. I received DQ on December 16 and am waiting anxiously for interview.

thanks

We were DQ'ed in October.

Good to know about the medical...

Both I and my wife had covid last week, we're better now, but the panel physicians are still testing appointees for covid and will refuse them if positive. Might toss a little wrench in things, but hopefully we'll test negative.

We also both had covid last week and recovered…8 days until 2nd red line of quick test disappeared.

So you both are in hcmc, is domicility on your mind at all when interviewed. That is my only concern because I haven’t been back to the states in 3 years. Because I belong with wife here and covid I think are legitimate reasons. I still have land and permanent address in US, I’m hoping it’s enough.

Domicile might be an issue, but I’m prepared for it. Kept my voter reg, drivers license, banking, US address, etc. up to date. Also at NVC, I uploaded my plans to get auto insurance and an apartment of our own when we get back.

Done with medical and got her updated on her shots.

FYI - no flu shot needed between April and September. Only required from October through March.

And for those doing spousal visa in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, make sure you bring cash to the vaccination location. They don’t accept bank transfers or credit cards. They were pretty rude and almost kicked my wife out because she didn’t bring cash, until some nice guy came to her assistance.

2 doses of either a FDA- or WHO-approved vaccine. My wife got moderna for the first dose, and pfizer for the second. So they do accept mixed doses as well.
