Why waste a month of waiting?

I will have the 2021 taxes before the interview.

Can't i file now? Gain a month in advance of the NVC wait times. Then take the 2021 taxes to the embassy??

and u will be asked to redo the I 864 and submit the 2021 taxes as they will be the most recent for the interview

that is new I 864 for both u and joint sponsor and the new tax year

u  do realize u already have a long wait till interview??

what country is this?  the embassy is very important as some embassies require new I 864 and new tax papers before the interview is scheduled and other embassies do not?

please complete your timeline and ID the embassy/country

I think NVC could ask for 2021 tax documents.....especially if you have not filed an extension.  I seem to remember that happening at least once in the past.  Personally, I would make every effort to file 2021 taxes as soon as you can, then upload 2021 documents.

Yep,  anybody filing for an immigration benefit between February- April should make an effort to file the previous year tax return asap.

So now you are saying I will get an RFE from the NVC asking me to re upload the 2021 taxes and a new i-864??  If it is just the embassy we are planning to take a new i-864 and 2021 taxes to the interview anyway. But filing now to win a month. It's Tunisia

Did you actually hear of anyone getting an NVC checklist because of this?? Please we can't do anything but wait another month for the 2021 taxes to be submitted to begin with then another 6 weeks for it to process as we are processing by mail cuz I'm filing married filing separately

I'm asking if using 2020 transcripts now would cause a checklist by the NVC when they review my files after the 18th

Answer is possibly.  In tax season’s gray area there is no way of telling

As @Crazy Cat has already replied, we don’t know the answer, so it is a maybe. I’ve seen them sending RFE for the current tax return. It doesn’t mean it is going to happen to you; like I said, I would make every effort to file my taxes now and send them the most recent one.

Makes perfect sense.  As a sponsor, you must have filed the last 3 years of tax returns. It could take 3 months for NVC to evaluate documents.  They could ask for 2021.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I am saying NVC can ask for new I 864 and 2021 tax returns

or they can say "take the new I 864 and 2021 tax returns "  for both u and joint sponsor to the interview

depends on the NVC officer doing the paperwork

basically u r asking a question no one has a definitive answer for

get your taxes done

and hope they are not held up for a tax audit

and the 18th is only 27 days away so u don't have quite a month

Have u even started to fill out the K1 (IRS form not immigration K1)  and form 1065 (both IRS forms)

or have a qualified accountant to do this work?

u r in a hurry for an interview  and immigration does not hurry and IRS is even slower as we get close to the end date

I was talking about the OP's situation in general.  You are an exception.
