Make sure you file for an extension request. Easy to do online and will give you until October to file. If you can't file by the 18th of April. And it should be based on the date they receive your package, so as long as they have it before the 18th of April, they would only expect 2020 tax transcripts. They may ask for updated ones at the interview down the line if your 2020 is close to poverty level, but that's down the line.

So now 2020 would not cause an RFE? And I will file before the 18th , not sooner than a week earlier tho....

I think NVC could ask for 2021 tax documents.....especially if you have not filed an extension.  I seem to remember that happening at least once in the past.  Personally, I would make every effort to file 2021 taxes as soon as you can, then upload 2021 documents.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

NVC does not process this

when the embassy is ready to schedule ,  the packet will go to embassy and your latest income statements will be taken in by the intending immigrant and viewed there

I'm asking if using 2020 transcripts now would cause a checklist by the NVC when they review my files after the 18th

Then, file for an extension and upload that as @Loren Y suggested.
