After arrival to US

My son arrived with his immigration visa stamped and we paid the entrance fees prior to his arrival. Will we need to do anything to get his green card or does the "system" automatically generate a green card issuance? It appears that his visa can be used as a green card until the actual one shows up. Thanks in advance for any info.

There's no entrance fee.  Do you mean the $220 immigrant fee?  If that's what you paid, then yes, his plastic green card will be issued by USCIS and mailed to the address listed on his DS-260 or the address recorded by CBP at POE.

Thanks for the information and yes it was the immigration fee. Would you know how long it usually takes to receive an official green card after arriving in the US? Or perhaps where that could be found?

USCIS estimate for GC production and delivery is within 90 days from POE.  But it is not guaranteed.  Many do not receive their plastic GC even after 90 days, including me.  Check the recent posts in the tracking thread below --

Well, it took 60 days to get a notice that his green card was being printed. A few days later and we got notice it was being mailed, it arrived the next day. Hard to believe it only took 9 years to get to this point. Immigration really needs some modifications.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."
