Personally, I prefer Standard Time as I am a morning person and would prefer more sunlight in the mornings, but I understand I am in the minority in that feeling.  That being said, I hate the twice a year time changes more, so staying on DST would be my second choice.

This was tried (Staying on DST) in the mid seventies. It was a 2 year trial period but once winter time arrived, more than 50% of the US did not like the change. Mainly, because it was not getting day light until after 8am and in some areas after 9am. 

So, as the saying goes... You can't please everyone.

I only recall it being for a year back then.  I really liked it because at the time I was living in the Northeast, and the ski areas stayed open an extra hour.

We’ve been on DST since late February as local government wanted to spring ahead before anyone else. No issues adjusting (adults or kids) but it messed up outlook calendar that we had to resort to adding time in the title of the meeting and even then it would be wrong - ended up having to switch to another time zone to fix it (until Europe switches to DST).

Yeah, for those on the Western side of a time zone, sunrise can be pretty late.  This is my reason I prefer staying on Standard time instead of Daylight time.  The amount of sunlight is the same regardless.

It's like cutting the top off a blanket, sewing it on the bottom. Then thinking you have a longer blanket.

We tried this junk before, and we couldn't even get through the year with it before we realized it was a stupid idea.

Was supposed to happen a LONG time ago.  I remember when I was in 4th grade (the 1960's...man had not yet gone to the moon!) and we were being taught the metric system because we were told the US was going metric within 10 years....Ha.

 

A lot of folks in this country don't like change.
