I-129 and I-129F are two different forms. Technicalities like that are important when it comes to immigration.

The processing times always fluctuate. So it’s possible it’ll go down, the question is when. I think not for a while.

The time of the I-129 process today is on average a year or more, do you think it can become shorter again like before 2020, from 5 to 7 months?

Not for several decades.

The pandemic created a backlog that everyone who depends  on USCIS is still feeling.  The only way to deal with the backlog is to increase supply or lower demand.  The courts have struck down attempts to raise fees.  With double digit inflation, supply is being reduced.

Processing times are still increasing.  Therefore we cannot recognize a peak yet.

Though we cannot increase supply, we can reduce demand.

It would be best if couples went the I-130 route, didn’t file DS-260 until after 18 months of marriage, and didn’t enter the USA until  after 2 years of marriage.

This way the only petitions USCIS would have to adjudicate are I-130 and  I-130A.  Whereas with the K-1 route USCIS has to adjudicate I-129F, I-485, I-131, I-765. I-864, I-751, biometrics, and sometimes I-960.    2 vs 6/7 petitions.

Hopefully In a few tears it will

In a majority of cases, it was taking about a year even prior to the pandemic backlog. Some countries process more quickly than others, given the demand. But no, I can't see the timeframe becoming shorter any time in the near future.

Hopefully it will speed up considering additional funding has been awarded for the immigration process

Sadly this backlog is not related to pandemic, since up to August 2021 we hand normal processing times of 6-7 months. Only after switch of leadership in USCIS (new head of agency), did processing rate collapsed, and basically they have been processed February/March 2021 cases for last 5-6 months.

Thus it is not related to pandemic or Trump (during him processing rates were double - around 200 per day). It is utter lack of leadership of USCIS.

To see how incompetent this administration is just look at their latest move to decouple EADs and travel authorisations, basically creating new separate process, that will just further aggravate backlog.
