HI...quick question. I submitted my application as a PR since 2013 as married to a US citizen in March 2020. The IO at my interview a yr ago changed my application to be independent of my husband and processed it based on the fact I've lived here 5+ years. Does this make any difference to the processing? Because I've been approved but still waiting for my oath ceremony to be re-scheduled from sept 15, 2021. My husband wasn't allowed in to the interview because of covid and I felt sort of vulnerable because I didn't know if she should do that or not and I didn't know all the rules or impact of everything.

Currently waiting 6 months for a reschedule of the oath ceremony and 24 months total.

If you were eligible for naturalization based on being an LPR for 5 years then this simplifies the case.

You can hire a lawyer to move your case into federal court where a judge will take your oath.

The officer did the right thing, filling as spouse is only for 3 years as resident and 3 year married to same usc. You are resident for mor that 5 years so that is your clasification to apply for citezenship.
