Waiting on NVC welcome letter

Hi everyone,

How worried should I be that I still haven't received the welcome letter from the NVC yet?

According to https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html they are sending out letters for case received on March 1. My I-130 was approved on February 22 (approval notice in Documents), case updated to approved on February 24, and case was sent to DOS on February 27.

I know that the "official" time for welcome letters are about 60 days but I'm looking at the VJ timelines with similar times of approval that have already received their welcome letters, and also the link posted above.

Thanks

Still no welcome letter... It's been 20 days and I can't even call yet. Not only that, every time I call the prompt says the reps are busy helping others and it disconnects me. So frustrating. This is time tacked on for the process for absolutely nothing.

call several times even if it disconnects you, call again and again until you get through and you will get through

Yeah. Answered after 1:35 hrs.

So useless. Case was received at NVC on Feb 26. It is undergoing Administrative Processing. Whatever that means...

They will contact with further instructions.

No timeframe for completion of administrative processing.

Did they give you Case and Invoice numbers?

if not, call back and ask to speak to a supervisor.

A situation happened to me a month earlier. NVC reviewed and accepted Civil documents but did not review AoS package.

I called and spoke to reps several times with no help. They gave me the same story about Administrative Processing (Which is a canned answer to cover their incompetency)

I called again at 7am and asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor also told me to story about Administrative Processing, but also clearly said that she will send them a note just in case they forgot about the case.

We got DQ that same day.

Good luck

What exactly is administrative processing?? Everything I'm seeing online is after interview? I haven't even gotten a welcome letter!

Hung up. I don't have it in me to hold for another 1.5 hrs. I'll try on Monday and ask for a supervisor..

Didn't give me case number or invoice number. In fact I could only give them my uscis receipt number because I don't have anything from nvc

Should I be worried now?? Does this happen prior to welcome letter?

Nothing to worry about. I expect you'll get a case number today after you called them.

But if not, call Monday morning at exactly 7 am US Eastern time. You might be on hold for 10 to 15 minutes. you can then ask to speak to a supervisor and they will transfer you right away.

As I said, AP at this stage is just a stupid excuse to cover their incompetence. It gets them out of trouble for delays, Just like USCIS SOMETIME uses Security Checks to justify stupid delays
