Hi everyone,

I just today got my IR1 visa approved, and we are planning to move from the UK to US in July. We'll be living in Nashville, TN when we move, though we're planning to see some of my wife's family in Chicago and Florida before we settle down and start life in Nashville. When I enter the states for the first time on the IR1 visa, do we need to enter in the state and/or city in which we are planning to reside in? Or can we enter anywhere in the US? As we're hoping to fly into Chicago first, and then fly to Florida, before going to Nashville.

Thanks,

Keith

Any POE will work. Chicago is pretty easy if you do direct flight to (if you do city X then onward to Chicago you'll be processed in the first US city and that takes time so if connecting flights leave plenty of time between flights).

There is no requirement for your POE to be in the state where you will reside.

I live in Nashville and welcome! My POE was Chicago. When I entered Chicago, I was led to a room where everyone was waiting for the Immigration Officer to call their names. The waiting time was almost 2 hours if memory serves me. (I wrote a review for POE in VJ, you may check), Make sure you allow more time for your next connecting flight.
