I am a US citizen and have scheduled B2 interviews for my Ukrainian in-laws which will take place in Krakow about 6 months from today. Things have changed and they are able to be in Poland within a week. I would like to expedite their interviews.

According to the official website of the US Embassy in Poland, it seems that Ukrainians apply for a non-immigrant visa with an interview already scheduled may request to have the interview expedited.

If you are a Ukrainian who wants to travel to the United States or a U.S. citizen who has friends, business associates, or NON-IMMEDIATE family who want to travel to the United States on a nonimmigrant visa you should go to https://www.ustraveldocs.com/pl/en/nonimmigrant-visa to check availability:

According to the link for expedited appointments, it seems that you must chose from the following reasons to expedite an interview:

  • Medical needs
  • Funderal/Death
  • Urgent business travel
  • Students or exchange visitors
  • ESTA denied

Have any of you successfully expedited an interview without chosing one of the options above? Is the embassy waiving standard expedited request requirements for Ukrainians?

During the first week of the crisis Poland has allowed a faster B2 appointments by using "group appointment" slots.  But that seems to have been changed to spouses and children of USC/LPRs only.

If you are a Ukrainian with a U.S. citizen/Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) spouse or parent and are seeking to travel to the United States on a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay please visit https://www.ustraveldocs.com/pl/en/nonimmigrant-visa to schedule an appointment.

  • Select the “Ukrainian with U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident immediate family” category in step 3 when scheduling your appointment.
    • This category is only for a spouse or child of a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
  • If you are unable to schedule an appointment via the methods described above, you may instead request a “group appointment” via https://ustraveldocs.com/pl/en/group-appointments and suggest a date convenient for you. Once you have submitted your request, please wait for a response from the Embassy, which will come via email and should permit you to schedule an appointment.
    • The group appointment option is only available for a U.S. citizen or LPR with a Ukrainian spouse or child.  Other applicants who apply for the group method will be declined.
