As i stated in my other thread, when I went for my AOS interview on July 11th, when the AO went through my medical file, she saw that I did not have a TB skin test done. Although she approved my visa, she said I needed the TB skin test now because it is a new requirement. She told me that by the end of this week, I would receive a letter from her which I can take with me to the CS, stating that i ONLY need a TB skin test and not a whole medical (I told her I was worried they,d try to rip me off).

I received her letter today and am utterly surprised!

On the letter, she attached a blue sticky note saying:

" Sandra, this letter serves as your "green card". I spoke to my supervisor whom at her discretion, is allowing you to receive your conditional green card.without the TB skin test. It was up for debate but later decided it was not necessary afterall. It was nice meeting you all!

best wishes,

Officer xxxxxxxx

Then on the letter it says the usual, Dear Applicant:

Please be advised that you have been granted conditional permanent resident alien status as of July 11, 2007. Blah, blah, blah, you guys know the rest! Then it says on the bottom that I should have my card within 2-3 weeks.

I am SOOOOO surprised at this letter. And I guess she no longer needs my utility bills either! ~sigh~ :dance:

*Biometrics - 7/7/07

*Interview date - 7/11/07

*I-485 Aprroval date- 7/11/07

*Green Card Received- 7/19/07

Removal of Conditions:

*Filed petition to remove conditions on 6/9/09

*NOA- 6/15/09

*Biometrics Appt. in Birmingham - 8/6/09

*Lifting of Conditions Approval Date - 10/22/09

*Waiting for Green Card!

Had our daughter on 4/4/08 and have another baby due 11/19/09!!!

Congratulations.... very good news! (And as for the great 'TB skin test: is it or is it not necessary?' debate... the plot thickens!)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

Great News...very happy for you...congratulations!

Wish there were some better regulations regarding this silly TB skin test.

Aug. 2001 - met online playing trivia

May 2006 - engaged

06-12-06 - Met with lawyer, filed for a K-1 visa

07-17-06 - NOA1

10-31-06 - Touched

01-29-07 - Found out from USCIS that my lawyer had filed at the wrong service center and nothing has been processed.

02-08-07 - Found out that our petition had been closed back in Oct. 2006. No one was ever notified of this from USCIS

02-09-07 - Began gathering paperwork once again to start all over. Started cancelling our wedding plans

02-20-07 - Filed for a K-1 visa once again

02-27-07 - NOA1

04-21-07 - Originally planned wedding date (had to cancel) :(

05-22-07 - Touched

06-01-07 - Granted a Congressional Inquiry!

06-15-07 - NVC received our approved I-129F petition (I never received an NOA2 via email or snail mail). We are just so HAPPY to finally move on!

06-25-07 - Packet 3 received (but it was rec'd by our lawyer, she has forwarded it on to my fiance in Australia)

06-28-07 - Fiance rec'd Packet 3

06-30-07 - Finally rec'd NOA2 via snail mail. It is dated June 25, same day as Packet 3 was rec'd.

07-05-07 - Mailed back form letter DSL-1076 (Applicant's Statement of Readiness to be Interviewed).

07-05-07 - Just waiting now in hopes of an interview date before APEC

07-13-07 - Received Packet 4

07-30-07 - Interview!!!! - APPROVED!

09-01-07 - Fiance arrives in the USA!

10-06-07 - Getting Married

As for the skin test debate, I have no clue what to say about this. I am very confused. I read on the CDC website that a skin test is now required and I also read that the CS's in the US are now required to do these.

Congrats, Magnolia31!!!This is very happy news :thumbs: I noticed that the Immigration Officer sounds very nice person.

Yes, I mean she was. She made alot of jokes during the interview and had a sense of humor. For instance when she asked me if I was a terrorist, she made the comment" You certainly dont look like one. Hopefully when I grant you the GC you don't decide to blow up anything. She laughed when she said that so she was joking. She joked for mostly all of the questions she asked me. She asked my husband if he is only married to me now or does he have 10 other wives in Montana LOL.

I guess she was just doing her job and therefore didn't wanna give the heads up without consulting with the supervisor first.

I suppose this whole business with the stupid TB skin test for K1s and K3s are always "up to the discretion" of the supervisors.

I know. I don' find that very fair though. The standards and expectations/requirements should be the same everywhere.
