I'm a natural smartarse too...Come AOS interview time, I would probably say something on either extreme, depending on how offended I was. "No, I didn't take a shower before we came here. I take showers at night." (that would be a lie, btw) Or I could say "We showered together this morning for an hour...next question please." (who knows if this would be truth or not? haaha) For the other question, hmmm, again, I like extremes..."We're part of a quaker sect that doesn't believe in sexual relations, and we're both still virgins" (there is a quaker sect that doesn't do the sex thing) OR "Yeah, we got a little frisky while we were waiting for you to interview us, so we stepped into the bathroom about 20 minutes ago." (probably wouldn't be true, but it's a decent sarcastic answer!) As for the virginity aspect of the question, that would be over the line and too intrusive, in my opinion, and I would be inclined to refuse to answer. I mean, me nor my fiancee have ever been raped, but what if one of us had been? What if we didn't want to recall something like that, especially to a stranger?

That's just my 2c

LOL. ^_^ Offensive as it is and as litigious a society the United States is, you can't sue for being offended.

So no, you can't sue.

That one atheist in California, Newdow (?), keeps suing to get "In God We Trust" off the money in the USA among other things...he says he's offended...yet he sues...why can't we sue for being affronted and offended by an interviewer's questions? I say if a potential employer cannot legally ask you those sorts of questions, then the US Government should not be able to either!!! And also, the ACLU sues for just about anything under the sun...I wish your average Joe Blow citizen would one day sue the ACLU for merely being offensive, irritating, and lining lawyers' pockets for frivilous causes!

Let me qualify my last statement: you can't sue successfully for being offended with respect to questions asked at an AOS interview. Joe Blow citizen has better things to do than sue the ACLU. Despite some of its more controversial cases that the hoi polloi follow, the ACLU has defended some very important cases dealing with First Amendment issues. Put it this way... they supported Larry Flint when he was sued... ;)

I am sure you and many other can appreciate the outcome of that case with regard to free speech laws.

that's the thing because we're in verge of doing "everything" to prove them that our relationship is genuine, we tend to overlook that what they're asking is below the already and not in line of our process. AOS questions are even lighter questions compared to having an interview at the embassy... ive heard a lot of worst scrutiny. there's this k1 girl being asked if she and her fiance have already sleep together  Philippines is still being consider as a conservative country where 5-10% only practice pre-marital sex... so this american CO was very curious enough to know if she's one of the statistic

Yes the question was personal, but not so bad.

During my divorce after I applied for VAWA (spousal abuse) I had to undergo a deposition without any representation (had no money ) by my ex's lawyer. For three solid hours I was interrogated as to my mental state, basically insinuating I was deranged, what kind of sex did my husband and myself have (#######, vaginal, oral) did it hurt (relating to sexual abuse)? how often? Questions about my children, their mental state, insuated they were badly behaved and to top it all I was asked if I was ever naked in front of my Father in law. He told me if I didn't answer any questions he would go to the court and and get them to make me answer. I've never been so humiliated in my life as the questions came fast and furious. After 3 hours he said he was done but I turned round to him and said well I believe you are also representing my MIL so ask me some questions about her and then I let rip basically turning the table on him.

I left that office and sobbed like a baby. Wasn't it enough to be abused by my ex let alone go through that? So if asked the "shower" question I don't think I'd bat an eyelid

Speaking of offensive AOS interview questions. I've heard of a couple who had their interview when the wife was 8 months pregnant. The immigration officer pointed his finger at her belly and asked the husband "Is THIS yours?"

So I'm reading the sample questions that are listed in the AOS section of the forum:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ge=exampleq#aos

...and what do I see:

"Did you or your spouse take a shower?"

:unsure::blink::o:angry::wacko:

Do they really ask ALL those questions??:o:blush:

Technically if you ask a lawyer Yes you can sue for anything in our country. But (isnt but always great lol) Question is will you win the lawsuit? YES OR NO depends upon situation.

I trhink reading all those questions makes me want to take Criminal Justic 101 at community college lol

I think Bee and I are going to be hysterically laughing through the whole AOS interview. That's just what we do when we get asked embarrassing, borderline offensive questions.

I hate the fact that they have to stoop so low in order to verify a relationship, though. -_-

I think I'm in the minority here but I don't find any of those "offensive". Nosy yes, but not totally offensive. After all, these are marriage-based AOS questions. Much of the "joint" documentation requested (including photos) can be easily staged or obtained... it's not as easy to fake in-person interaction.

My take on interview questions is this: I think they are less concerned with the actual answers (unless your answers raise red flags) and more interested in the way you answer, interact with each other and your body language. You can tell a lot about a person through speech patterns and body language. Anyone who's been through a lot of questions by CBP can attest to this. Example: "Where do you work? What do you do? How many people work there? How many people do what you do at work? Do you rent or own? Who are you visiting? etc.". When asked these things they're paying close attention to your speech patterns and body language when you answer.

I've read elsewhere questions that are WAY too specific for a spouse to know (e.g. how many pairs of shoes does the wife own?). Most husbands wouldn't know the answer but if they did that might also be a red flag that the couple practiced their answers.

If it makes you feel better, we weren't asked any of the questions on that list!

Methinks the really super personal questions come up if the adjudicator gets an inkling (rightly or wrongly) that the couple is fraudulent.

I'm with you, misa.
