Today I received a letter from NVC that says that I am missing DS-230 and I should send it to the NVC.

"The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support form (I-864) for this case. However, we are still waiting for the Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230). Please submit the form according to instructions. If you need another form, please visit http://Travel.state.gov/visa/immgrants/info_1335.html to download a new form and complete instructions.

It also has the page with the my case bar code. However, the letter does not include any DS-230 form as the letter mentions. The automated message when I call NVC also says that I am mssing some information. I am confused about this situation. Does this letter mean that my DS230 has been generated and that I can send it now. Or do I have to wait for something else? I have read somewhere that I need to wait until the NVC message says that they need the biographic information. Thanks in advance

I called them and they said that they were going to generate the DS-230 some time during the week but nothing. They also won't give me an exact date of when it will be generated which I need to know so I can use the coversheet from James' shortcuts. I'm definitely not waiting around for that stupid thing to arrive in the mail since it can take up to a month to get it.

I have also received the same yesterday. They mentioned that my file is missing the "OF-230-I". Could you please let me know whether I need to submit my Birth Certificate, Police Reports and other supporting documents at this stage with my OF-230-I or at a later stage.

Thanks

You should be getting your DS-230 shortly. The 230 packet is really nothing, all it is, is a barcoded

cover sheet that you need to send in with your DS-230 immigration visa application. You are told

to download the dS-230 from travel.state.gov. So, call the NVC find out if they have sent your

DS-230 packet yet. If they have, have your spouse download the DS-230, fill it out, sign it and mail

it to you, so that all you have to is verify the information and simply include the cover sheet with the

application and mail it back to the NVC. If you're computer savvy like I am, then you can fill out the pdf

form and email it to your wife so that all she has to do is print it and sign it. A last option, for those that

want to do everything themselves because "they only know how to do it", can choose

to fill out the DS-230 on your PC, print it, mail it to your wife, have your wife sign it and mail it back to you. A good

thing to do is to walkthrough the application filling process with your spouse over the phone as you are looking

on with them. Best regards to ya, hope all goes well.

PS Don't forget to include notarized copies of your spouse's passport biograhic data page. Color copy preferably.

well notarizing any document helps support it's authenticiy. black and white copies typically are hard to define

in terms of facial features etc...color copies are easier to work with and more easily legible. if it's not an issue,

have your husband send you a notarized color copy of his passport.

as per the nvc, you don't need to have it notarized, and they really don't specify if they want a color copy or

black&white copy. however, with a notarized color copy you can pretty much make sure they don't send you a

request for a more legible copy, it's more or less for your peace of mind.

For the Manila consulate (USEM)

does the biographic page of the passport really need to be notarized?

No, not required.

i have my husband's copy of passport but its not notarized, if it is really needed can i get it notarized here or he needs to send me another one?

You are OK with your copy.

and also it is not color copy, will that pose any kind of problem?

No. As long as it shows all his information, you are OK.

our AOS and IVF fee was entered into the system 9/3 so i will be mailing these documents probably next week..

Yes, you are right on.
