Hello All,

I have a question about my situation that is currently going on. Just for our background, we married inside of the U.S and been here for more than 5 years. At first, we hired a lawyer to do our marriage-based green card case while my spouse was still a green card holder and the lawyer submitted I-130 form as the Preparer. Moreover, the case is still pending.

And now, we are thinking that not to proceed with the lawyer anymore (since it is getting expensive) and we want to submit I-485 since my spouse became a US citizen. My question is that can we proceed our case without lawyer on the halfway of our application process?

We really appreciate your time for answering our question! Thank you!

Yes you can do so. What you will be filing/submitting now is a complete new steps not doing anything on the pending i130 so it's completely irrelevant to the lawyer used for filing the petition.
