I filed an i824 because, unfortunately, I didn’t mark the option to do consular processing on my original petition, I was planning to do AOS in the US, but then I had to depart the States. So now I have to file the i824 so they can transfer my file to the US embassy to continue my status adjustment through consular processing

Ah okay, yeah that's the right approach then. Just wanted to make sure.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

Can you report an attorney for an overcharge and lying

Remember:  99% of all lawyers give the rest a bad name.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi family,  please how can one find out which field office is handling their case. My 1485 has been pending since vawa approval in August 2020. I filled both in March 2018. After Wava approval they requested for my birthday certificate which I submitted immediately. Since then I have not heard anything,  I don't even know which office is handling my case.

Hi fam

I fired my attorney few weeks ago and got a new attorney. My new attorney has filed with USCIS for a representative name and info change. Since my case was already approved, will I still get an update for name update on the same receipt number of the approved I-360?

The new attorney has also filed a form i824 for my file to be transferred to NVC. Will I receive a new receipt number for this form or will be updated on the same i360  receipt number?

Can you report an attorney for an overcharge and lying about specific fees and payments and still get refunded? For example overcharging for mailing you documents that was in fact free? Or a translation of a certain company that costs $15 but the attorney said $60 + her service fee $30 but then found out that the attorney took the money and did the translation with a free provider. Let’s say the attorney told you that a certain service at that company will cost $100, took the money, and the company did that service for him for free?  This sounds like fraud

I have all the receipts and made calls with these service providers that were either free or way less charge than what the attorney has told me.. tbh I just wanted to receive my documents in hand before doing anything because I didn’t want the attorney to deny me my documents or claim she  has lost them if I requested for the refund before I have my documents in hand. Hope you guys understand what I’m trying to explain

You can report the lawyer to the state bar. The State Bar's toll-free Grievance Information Helpline (1-800-932-1900)can also help you determine whether to report the conduct of the lawyer and whether other resources might be beneficial.

Thank you guys, that’s helpful. Honestly I don’t have time to go after her with lawsuits and also don’t wanna be the reason she loses her license. Karma will take care of her, but I just want her to refund the amount of money she lied about. That was so unprofessional and inhumane especially when taking advantage of immigrants in our situation who were in abusive relationships and are mostly working so hard to make a living.

Good day all,

I sent in my (I-360) mail to this address

USCIS Vermont Service Center
30 River Road
Essex Junction, VT 05452-3808

Instead of this

USCIS Vermont Service Center
38 River Road
Essex Junction, VT 05479-0001.

Will it cause a delay or any problem?

Call USPS and try to change it if it hasn't been delivered. Those are very different addresses, if it isn't lost, they may be able to at least return it to you

The address you sent it to is a USCIS/ Vermont SVC center meant for “ premium processing “ of other apps, ideally they should forward to the VAWA unit down the street. You may get lucky and they will do exactly that, or just mail it back to you.
If you sent it priority mail w tracking, you can see if it gets delivered.

1. Track your packet w post office if you mailed priority or have tracking number https://www.google.com/search?q=usps+tracking&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari

and see where it is

2. Wait to see if it will get rejected/ sent back to you..u can try calling USCIS w tracking info if it was delivered…but not sure if they will be able to help

3. If nothing happens in a few weeks, redo the packet ( from the complete copies u kept ) and file again. You can just do a WET signature on the copy of I-360 instead of redoing form

Hey Everyone, here to share the power of prayer. Yesterday I was asking if anyone knew of any solutions because my job wouldn’t accept my extension and @balo101 tried to help (thank you) as a result yesterday was my last day at work and I am terminated today. I prayed last night, and begged God to have mercy on me after all I’ve been through before going to bed, and just a while ago I get a notification that new card is being produced for my I-485!!!!!

I am so grateful and will pray for everyone in this community to hear good news soon 🌸
