Hey guys,
It's my first time posting here and I want to file for vawa but I cant afford an attorney so I have a couple of basic questions.

When you use a therapist as proof of abuse is there an amount of time you have to have been seeing the therapist?
How many pages do most people write for their personal declaration?
Also I was previously denied entry and it mentions arrest date on my backround check so should I check yes to previously being arrested?

Thanks in advance

A few questions...

If you get your third prima facie, does that mean a) there is progress being made on your case/they are reviewing your case even though your status hasn't changed from "Fees waived" since 08/2020? b) you won't get approved any time since prima facie JUST got renewed? This is my third and I was hoping it would get approved before that.

Always appreciate your help!!

They just started processing January 2020. Yours will have an update in few months or maybe sooner. I didn’t have an update on my case since I filed in January 2020 till case was approved March 2022.

You will hear from them soon

You can get a pro Bono attorney who help VAWA petitioners for free. Every city/state has offices that offer pro Bono attorneys. Along with educating yourself and getting the help on this platform, a pro Bono attorney can be helpful with the filing process.

Google Vawa pro Bono attorney in your city/states, you will find lists of providers and organizations. Discuss your case with them.

It is Sunday -- time for our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke, guaranteed (if correlation = causation) to evoke approvals and positive progress, especially when upvoted on VJ:

================================================

EVERYTHING'S FREE IN HEAVEN

An 85-year-old couple, having been married almost 60 years, died in a car crash.  They had been in good health for the last ten years, mainly because of the wife's obsession with health, food, and exercise.

When they reached the Pearly Gates, St. Peter took them to their mansion, which was decked out with a beautiful kitchen and master bath suite and Jacuzzi.

As they "oohed and aahed," the old man asked St. Peter how much all this was going to cost.

"It's free," St. Peter replied.  "This is Heaven."

Next, they went out back to survey the championship golf course that the home backed up to.  They would have golfing privileges every day, and each week, the course changed to a new one representing the great golf courses on earth.

The old man asked, "What are the greens fees?"

St. Peter replied, "This is Heaven.  You play for free."

Next, they went to the clubhouse and saw the lavish buffet lunch with the cuisines of the world laid out.

"How much to eat?" asked the old man.

"Don't you understand yet?  This is Heaven.  It's free!" St. Peter replied with some exasperation.

"Well, where are the low-fat and low-cholesterol tables?" the old man asked timidly.

St. Peter said, "That's the best part -- you can eat as much as you like of whatever you like and you never get fat and you never get sick.  This is Heaven."

With that, the old man went into a fit of anger, throwing down his hat and stomping on it, shrieking wildly.  St. Peter and his wife both tried to calm him down, asking him what was wrong.  The old man looked at his wife and said, "This is all YOUR fault!  If it weren't for your blasted bran muffins, I could have been here ten years ago!"

You or your attorney will need to fill out form AR-11 and mail it to

U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services

Attn: Humanitarian Division

Vermont Service Center

38 River Road

Essex Junction, VT 05479-0001

With Vawa cases they don’t accept your A-11, you need to send mail saying : I am safe at this address and put your new adress together with copy of your last action on your case

AR-11 is what my lawyer sent to them when I changed my address and they accepted it. This info is from the USCIS website as well:

https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange

Victims of Domestic Violence, Trafficking, and Other Crimes

If you previously filed and/or have a pending or approved form in the chart below, you must mail your Form AR-11, Alien’s Change of Address Card, to the Vermont Service Center address listed in the chart below. (This includes any form you file after that.) You do NOT need to call the USCIS Contact Center. We strongly recommend using certified, registered, or return receipt mail when sending your Form AR-11. This will give you proof that you mailed the form to us.

Thank you for the response . I trying to understand why @AJJUhad problems with her change of address , as many others have reported problems w change of address using AR-11. I thought perhaps she may have sent her AR-11 to the pre printed address on the form itself, instead of Vermont.

I'm still waiting for my I-360 decision since 3years + and I have EAD valid for another year. I'm planning to file mandamus writ to force USCIS to make a decision on my case.  Per saying " Expect the best , be prepared for the worst". I would like to see what options I have to challenge USCIS decision, if it issues denial, in the court ? Any experts please suggest on this.  Will I be able to keep EAD if I go to federal court to challenge USCIS decision of denial?Thank you!

Did you try to contact your congressperson to contact USCIS regarding the status and process of you i360?
