Hello Everyone,

I attended the oath ceremony yesterday and now I am officially a US citizen.

The whole process took an hour and a half.

*The interviewer had edited my name on the application and used my name before marriage (I had just shortened it) despite of my marriage certificate and SSN and IDs!!

I told her if that was the case then I request a name change (to the name which I had been using 14 years already!) she still edited my name wrong put my put one of my last names as middle name and one as the first name!!! which was ridiculous and became an unnecessary reason for delay and stress!

After arriving for the oath ceremony they had us wait in the room and requested that we wear our masks then an employee checked that we had filled the form that is on our notice letter and that we brought our green cards.

At the window; the immigration officer took my green card and handed me my naturalization certificate and name change document (I did mention the name issue he told me it shouldn't be a problem)

Then the judge virtually joined us and we were greeted then took the pledge of allegiance we were dismissed.

Congratulations!

Did they ask you anything specific during the citizenship interview?

A lot of my friends told me that their naturalization interviews lasted literally 10 min and IOs barely asked any questions. However, I’ve seen a descent number of people lately saying that IO have treated them with a lot of scrutiny during their naturalization interviews, so I am curious how has that been for you.

thanks!

Thank you 😊

The officer who interviewed me was very rude and unpleasant.

She started with the test and I answered all questions correctly then she proceeded to question my marriage and eligibility, I answered calmly but she said she wasn't willing to discuss it and will look into my case further and she edited some information like (married instead of separated) and my name which was obnoxious but all worked out in the end, I was approved a week later, so I suppose she only delayed me a little.

The name was resolved by asking for a name change.

I remember when I stumbled upon VisaJourney, (during one of the darkest episodes of my life),you were in the VAWA process then and very active in the forum as well. You answered everyone’s questions to the best of your ability and helped many folks in the process. It’s heartwarming to see that your immigration journey is officially complete! May you be an asset to this country and continue to shine!

Wow.  Wow.

Now, you need to strive to be not just a USC, but a Texan!  Start studyin', Pardner. :P

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi dear everyone, please help. I am a vawa green card holder I just reentered the us today but I noticed the officer didn't stamp my passport. Will this be a problem when filing for naturalization? How can I prove that I entered the us if the officer didn't stamp my passport. Please help

Won't be an issue. CBP doesn't require LPRs to present a passport when coming back to US. They likely just took your green card, swiped it through the electronic reader, and handed both back to you without bothering to even open the passport.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

please help . I’m in very bad state

History: applied for 130 in 2016 then completed first interview in dec 2016. In second interview was stoke and wife withdrew case stating not bonafide marriage and I entered marriage to gain immigration benefit.

2018 feb I applied for 360 and 2021 rfe docs submitted and case is still pending.

Gave divorce in 2019

  1. If vawa is denied what other options I have ?
  2. I started talking to usa citizen recently . Can I marry  while 360 is pending ?
  3. If I marry citizen and  apply for 130 and do I need waiver? As my first 130 is denied stating wife withdrew case stating not bonafide marriage
  4. Can I do congressman as my 360 application time out of processing? For expedite what docs I need?
  5. One year ago I did rfe docs submission haven’t heard anything . What can I do ?

  1. If vawa is denied what other options I have ?  FILE AN APPEAL
  2. I started talking to usa citizen recently . Can I marry  while 360 is pending ? NO
  3. If I marry citizen and  apply for 130 and do I need waiver? As my first 130 is denied stating wife withdrew case stating not bonafide marriage.  YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO ADDRESS BONAFIDE MARRIAGE ISSUE.  NO WAIVER FOR THIS.  DID THEY CHARGE YOU WITH MARRIAGE FRAUD?
  4. Can I do congressman as my 360 application time out of processing? For expedite what docs I need? YOUR CONGRESSMAN CAN ONLY CHECK ON THE STATUS OF YOUR CASE.  YOU CANNOT EXPEDITE I-360
  5. One year ago I did rfe docs submission haven’t heard anything . What can I do ? MOST LIKELY THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THE INFORMATION YOU SUBMITTED - BACKGROUND CHECKS.  ALL YOU CAN DO IS WAIT.

1. Appeal using form I-290B

2. Not without killing the I-360.

3. Not a waiver per se, rather if they slap you with 204(c) because they think that your previous marriage was fraudulent, you will need to submit evidence that the previous marriage was legit while it lasted.

4. Sure. You do not have to submit anything really, you can submit any evidence that backs up whatever claim you're making (e.g. you'll lose your job if this thing isn't approved soon, like an email from your HR).

5. Inquire via your congressman's office and see what's the hold up.

Do not marry now, this will assume you are marrying for green card and your i360 will be denied right away. Fight for your i360 till it’s approved. Provide anything they asked in that rfe and you’ll be approved. If you marry and file i130 again it’ll be denied because you failed to prove binafide marriage at your previous one. Fight for your i360 first, if you need to appeal, do it until you get approved. Contact your congress man or senator for your i360.

i had a 204c fraud on my i130 and received a NOID on my i360 and responded to that noid giving them many proofs they needed  in that noid and I was approved. Fight hard for i360, don’t get married now

1. What will be next option if Appel is denied aswell ? Eb5? H1 ? I’m out of status already
2. I talked to lawyer Edward orendain  recently he suggested it’s no where written that 360 is denied if I get married while pending. It’s all fake news . I Dnt know if I can trust him

4. if I do congressman will uscis agent will get angry ? Last time when I did I got 2nd strokes interview.
this time my rfe was like warning too.
A. In good terms if my 360 is approve . How will be my 485 interview approval chances? Will that be so tuff and I will have limited chances being of getting approved ?

B. If 360 is approved is that safe to marry citizen only ? If somethings goes wrong in my 485 I have backup plan from her ?

please help @Demise

How different is noid vs rfe?  My rfe was 5 pager . Officer was so strict that he checked all my previous 130 documents , 328 geo docs submitted and questioned me why dates mismatched ? Requested my submit all kinds of good faith marriage,  creuelty , docs showing we lived together .

I submitted 100 page rfe reply and waiting more than year now. Seeing my rfe I m kind of losing hopes that he will approve my 360.
I submitted all the docs I need and Dnt have any extra if my case is denied. Please let me know your experience
