Btw, since we are talking about not being able to marry before VAWA is approved, has anyone PERSONALLY know someone who got married AFTER 360’s approval but. BEFORE their AOS interview? I see some lawyers (including mine) being hesitant to confirm that the AOS interview will go well if the one remarries before the interview.

While USCIS policies clearly state that marrying after 360’s approval will not have any effect on 485, what happens in reality might differ.

They May give you some hard time if it happens before the interview, but they will definitely obey the law. 😀😀

Yeah .

That is usually the approximate time for a file to leave Vermont to NBC after approval.

Now  from NBC to the field office, that's where  I don't really understand the process.

Can somebody throws an insight on this for us?

From what I have been explained, NBC checks whether something is missing (e.g. medicals ) and pre-processes cases before they can be sent to FOs. Once everything looks good on their end, they forward a file to a local FO for further processing (that’s where your application will actually be reviewed. The FO also determines whether an interview is required or not).

thanks. you are in initial stage of VAWA.  So basically after this within 7 to 10 months you will get EAD. VAWA is taking somewhere 22 to 26 months. Once your will gets approved USCIS will transfer your file to your local field office for an interview or they might waive your interview.

So in nut shell average time is 3 years depending on how smooth your case is.

Once the file goes to NBC from vermont then, I believe our 485 start processing just like 485 submitted throught I-130, As you know the 485 with 130 does take time to complete background check and other check and once the check is done it is forwarded to local office just like other AOS associated with I-130.

It is Wednesday, and therefore time for our stress-relieving (and, if correlation = causation, approval-evoking) Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

=================================

THE TALKING LEG

A man went to the doctor and said, "Doc, you have to check my leg.  Something's wrong.  Just put your ear up to my thigh -- you'll hear it!"

The doctor cautiously placed his ear to the man's thigh and heard, "Give me 20 bucks -- I really need 20 bucks."

"I've never seen or heard anything like this before; how long has this been going on?" asked the doctor.

"That's nothing, Doc.  Put your ear to my knee."

The doctor put his ear to the man's knee and heard it say, "Man, I really need 10 bucks -- just lend me 10 bucks!"

The dumbfounded doctor said, "Sir, I really don't know what to tell you.  I've never seen anything like this."

"Wait, Doc; that's not  all.  There's more -- just put your ear up to my ankle," said the man.

The doctor did as the man said and was blown away to hear the ankle plead, "Please, I just need 5 bucks.  Lend me 5 bucks, please."

"I have no idea what to tell you," the doctor said.  He frantically searched all his medical references and said, "There's nothing about it in my books.

"However, I can make a presumptive diagnosis.  Based on life and my previous experience, I can tell you that your leg appears to be broke in three places."
