Hi fam

do you remember how long it took them to transfer your file to the NVC and send you the welcome letter?

I read online that it takes 45 days from 824 approval to send the file to th NVC and receive the welcome letter.. just gauging the approximate time from i824 approval to transferring the file to receiving the NVC welcome letter

sorry for troubling you with my questions

thank you and God bless

Nothing to do at this point.

Once you get an I-360 approval there's 2 ways to go about this.

1. Have to lawyer reach out to ICE and ask if they are willing to dismiss if they agree then wait for the judge's decision to their motion to dismiss and file I-485 with USCIS.

2. Have your lawyer file a motion to recalendar to put the admin closed case back on the court docket and file I-485 with the court if you haven't already.

Don't worry -- administrative decision is great news for your case!

It means that the judge temporarily closed your case -- so you don't have to go to anymore court dates -- until the VAWA is approved.

Once the VAWA is approved, we will prepare your application for permanent residence and submit it to the Court. At that point, the court will give you a final date to grant your green card.

Let me know if that makes sense or if you have any more questions.

My attorney was telling me that when I was worried about case Administravitly closed . But you were here and was responding me before a week my attorney responded .. I really appreciated your knowledges

It is Wednesday, and time for our stress-relieving Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

======================================================
"I CAN'T DO THAT, OFFICER"

A police officer pulled over a driver who had been weaving in and out of the lanes.  He went to the guy's window and said, "Sir, I need for you to blow into this breathalyzer tube."

The man said, "Sorry, officer; I can't do that.  I am an asthmatic.  If I do that, I'll have a really bad asthma attack."

"OK, fine," sighed the officer.  "I need for you to come down to the station to give a blood sample."

"I can't do that, either.  I am a hemophiliac," said the man.  "If I do that, I'll bleed to death."

"Well, then, we need a urine sample."

"I'm sorry, officer; I can't do that, either.  I am also a diabetic.  If I do that, I'll get really low blood sugar."

"All right, then -- I need for you to come out here and walk this white line."

"I can't do that, officer."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm far too drunk for that!"

:P

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well. I have a question, my case is pending since October, 2019. I reached out to congressman and they responded “the case is not yet ready for a decision, as the
required security checks remain pending.
We cannot move forward on the case until the security checks have been completed” so I’ll be patiently waiting.. again and again.. but now I need to travel to my home country in September, I received AP not so long ago but now can I do so in regards to that response?

thank you

Wow thank you! appreciate you for the detailed timeline, this helps a lot.

I see that you mailed a package to the NVC, is this because we are vawa applicants? do we have to mail the documents instead of uploading them on their website?

What kind of visa did your family get? I still don’t know what visa category we get since it’s under a vawa petition

Hey guys i have a question. This is more so to ease my mind but has anyone received more than 1 RFE and still end up with an approval? Our initial petition was put in September 2018 and they requested RFE which was sent December 2018. Now after 3+ years today they are requesting more additional evidence and it's very demoralizing. I do not know what the RFE is for it will be sent to the lawyers and i would have to ask my mother but i do not want to stress myself or her out.

Yes, we have to mail our documents.  Your Welcome letter will have a checklist and where to mail it.

VAWA is a IB category

If you're really unlucky.  However, if you keep copies of the receipts with you -- and, later, subsequent documentation of your progressing status -- you should be fine.

This thread may be helpful:

Thank you! This is extremely helpful!

I intended to carry all the documents I have, my passport is not expired, and I am not traveling to the airport near boarders, so I think I should be fine.

Such a relief!

Whether you need to pay the filing fee for I-131 for AP depends on whether or not you paid the filing fee for I-485.

If yes then no you don't have to pay for initial or renewal I-131.

If no and you got a fee waiver, then you will need to pay for I-131 or submit another waiver request using form I-912.

This makes so much sense! It explains clearly why I heard so many different answers.

I did pay for the filing fee for I-485, so it seems like I can apply for I-131 without additional fee.

Is there a suggested timing for me to send it out? I plan to do so by self if possible.

Since I didn't include it in the original packet, what other documents I need to include?

Thank you!

Recommended is to just file it together with I-485, but since you already filed you can just send it now or as soon as you can.

Only document you need to include is a copy of the I-485 receipt notice.
