Hello Fam

I filed an I-824 action on an approved petition for my file to be transferred to the NVC because I didn’t choose consular processing when I initially filed the i360 and I choose to adjust status in California.

ive done my biometrics back when I was still residing in California because I was going to file i485 and adjust status in the US. But since I had to depart the states, now I have to have my file transferred to the NVC and I didn’t submit i485 while residing in California and waiting for the i360 (the i824 receipt notice states that USCIS will contact me if they need biometrics)

when I mailed the i824 to the Az lockbox, I was thinking that they will send my case to California since it was my local office and I was happy because California processing time for i824 is only 3 months but, unfortunately, my i824 ended up in Vermont.

why did my request go to Vermont instead of California? Is it because my file is still in Vermont and haven’t been transferred to a local office yet? Does anyone have any idea?

if my file is still in Vermont, does this mean it will have a faster transfer to the NVC? Vermont processing time for 824 is 11 months.

I’m going to inquire with my congressperson after 90 days, but is there any way I can make this process go by faster like contacting a tier 2 agent or something? Since I have no dependents and I’ve already done the biometrics and all my documents are ready and the i360 has been reviewed and approved by USCIS

In addition, does anyone know if they will require me to do another biometrics here at the US embassy in the country of origin or the biometrics I have already done in the US will suffice?

any insight is appropriated and will be helpful.. thank you

Due to the fact that the petition for your VAWA derivative is handled by Vermont Service Center.

Hi mam.

Does it mean that in future, any little thing or petition concerning us will always be linked or transferred to Vermont as far as we are vawa approved aliens?

Please will I receive a separate update/tracking number when the card is shipped?

I cannot wait to hold the card and breathe.

Hi @sandra, my GC card with wrong a Gender on it,  am female, but the gender on the card on the was male. My attorney returned the card with letter and supporting documents immediately and it almost a month. I got an update that they have received the card and the letter. Do you have an idea of the time frame to for uscis to fix typography error from their side.

note: all my EAD has female gender on it. I don’t who told them am changing gender, anyways that’s on the light side of it.

I need to know the time frame so as to be able to purchase my flight tickets to travel overseas.

I will be waiting for your reply.

thanks

My aunt she received her EAD not based on VAWA. It was a different case. However, USCIS had wrong gender for her as well.

Her attorney told her it would take 45 days. However, she received her EAD within 30 days.

Hello everyone! Some of you May remember me, old time user. Had my vawa approved in 2017 four months after I filed it and got my GC in 2019. I’m back here because it’s time for me to file for my naturalization under the 3 year rule. I just wanted to confirm if the 2 year 9 month rule still applies and if it’s okay to file using that rule? @sandranj pls help me verify if I’m right. Thank you

@sandranj and many others had been confirming multiple times on this thread that they can start the naturalization process after 2 years and 9 months for vawa filers.

So, you can go ahead with your process and May God bless you.
