Grandma's old. Grandma cannot speak any languages but Romanian. Grandma cannot find a job. My brother and his wife are colonels in the Romanian military branches. They could die in a war or could not be able to see their son for years. Also their son would have nothing to go back to in Romania for years.  I am thinking long term. They could flee to neighboring countries temporary, but he is a minor and we are his only family left after grandma. It may be far-fetched.  Just like invading Ukraine was far-fetched to many. Like I said, I hope the war will NOT extend to NATO countries...I put the worse first because I like to be prepared and take care of my family in that possible(maybe not likely to some) situation. Thanks for offering suggestions. We'll explore all of them.

Maybe the parents have already made arrangements for such an emergency.

I am not demanding:)I am his only family left to take care of him  and I happen to live in USA.

They are in the process of.  They don't want to be a burden to me, but long term I would be his only family left. Grandma is very old and very sick.

Yes they would take the shortest quickest emergency route, but the war might not end in 1 month, and all paperwork takes time...and I prepare for that as well.

Even the USA military in NATO countries is preparing  for the worse:( given the circumstances. Let's hope the preparations will be just that.

Did you even look at the humanitarian parole info? I'm pretty sure in a situation like this where a US citizen can sponsor in a family member fleeing a dangerous situation (especially a minor child whose parents are drafted and can't leave), that it would most likely be approved. It's just that no one here can say with certainty because we're not USCIS and we don't make the final call on these matters. And nobody can predict if some other special refugee visas or corridors would be opened in that case either.

Just a suggestion, but maybe you should consider petitioning your mom now, rather than expecting to bring her here on a B to adjust status.

I am not sure any Humanitarian Paroles have been processed for Afghans so at best that would a process that would take years.

good questions

when our military deploys ,  everyone has to write up POA's and make arrangements to cover all situations /at least my son did in the Marines

Millefleur, the contingency plans, if there are any, have not been discussed yet with any military personal in Romania. I am pretty sure

that military parents in Ukraine shipped their kids on buses with strangers and sometimes alone to a safer place. (my brother is telling me this). BTW I don't think the rank doesn't give them better insight into a war situation, at least not yet. They will know when/if they are mobilized into that situation.

I hope Romania has that in place too.  He is not aware of this because he has never been deployed anywhere. The difference is in this case war would take place on their territory.

colonels in Romania(it' s really not such high ranking) is not the same as colonel in USA military. Every country's ranking system is different-side information.

That's discouraging. I hope USA would take in consideration that Romania is a NATO country and that our military fights for NATO in all wars, and we still cannot have family come over without a travelor's visa... but that's a different discussion...there is a long list of countries shose citizens don't need a visa to travel to USA. Romania has been denied this multiple times.
