it must have been in a foreign country

in the US the person needs a SS # or ITIN which they can not have unless married to USC and added to IRS tax returns

and to have a foreign bank account would look like the USC was sending money to the intending immigrant which is always a bad idea

Does this intending immigrant have a SS# from former stay in US

do u have a photo ID of person?

do u have a POA from this person ?

and how did the others on utube add the person?

BTW i added my husband to my us account but he could not have bank card till he was in the US and we were married, had his POA ,  him on my tax returns

Not all banks require a SSN or ITIN.  Most do, but not all.

That said, an authorized user can be added to a credit card.  Not quite the same, but still, it gives that other person access to the petitioner's credit.

  • To have a US joint bank account , the immigrant needs either a SS # or ITIN to open or be added to USC's bank
  • can not do joint tax returns when not married so no ITIN

Not at all, many of us had bank accounts and/or joint accounts with our US spouses before we had SSNs (and no ITINs). Bank of America especially has been very immigrant friendly to many of us, they just asked us to update our info once we do get a SSN.

That said, definitely no need for that at the K-1 stage.
