My case is being processed in the California service center even though i reside in North Carolina. I was wondering what is the likelihood that my case will be transferred to a different service center?

Service Centers are not assigned based on the residence location of the petitioner.  They are assigned based on USCIS workload.  They are also transferred based on workload and internal USCIS criteria.  Patience is the key.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you for that. Hopefully mine will be transferred once the workload picks up. It is hard to be patient when you want your spouse here but i am trying 😉

that changes often / it goes by avereages and they change with the # of petitions,  embassies involved, RFE's sent out, and office working staff (vacations)

a few years ago Nebraska was the longest

It can and probably will change.

Have a look at VJ historic timelines for each of the service centers.

California is at 219 days;

Vermont 253 days;

Texas 293 days;

Nebraska 197 days.

California really isn't that bad in reality.

You can also check out timelines to check latest NOA2 approvals

Case in California was filed July 28, 2021 and approved March 7, 2022.

Case in Nebraska was filed May 24, 2021 and approved March 7, 2022.

The center you're assigned to does not guarantee a speedy or slow approval.

VJ= VisaJourney.

Add your own timeline and country to your profile and you'll be able to track cases like yours.

Good luck! I hope you get your approval quickly. But, you should aim for 12 months as everything seems to be getting slower lately.

Where will the interview take place?

To be honest, don't even bother looking at processing times. They're bs, and are usually never accurate. My GC was supposed to take 18-24 months and I was done exactly at the 6M mark. I spent those six months stressing out about my inability to work, travel, etc. Truth is, I didn't even have to use my EAD.

Get busy with something else.

USCIS is not the only step.
