I-864 affidavit of support form old version vs. updated version

Hi guys,

so I have a question about something that’s making us a little nervous. My husband filled out and signed his affidavit of support form at the end of December last year. Our co sponsor filled out and signed her affidavit of support on February 25th. Those forms are ready to be uploaded and submitted online. All we are waiting for is my police certificate. I’ve applied for it about a month ago and still waiting. This takes very long in Germany right now due to Covid.

Now I checked the USCIS website and noticed that they have updated the I-864 on March 1st.
When my husband and our co sponsor signed their forms, they were technically “expired”. That’s what it said at the bottom of the form. But a newer version was not yet available at the time.

now I’m worried if we can still upload the old forms as they are or if we have to fill out the updated version and do it all over again.

Does anyone know if this will cause an RFE ?

thank you all for your time and help

If the new version of the form wasn’t available when your sponsors filed then there shouldn’t  be an RFE for using an old version of the form.

The forms need to be the current version at the time you submit them.

better change to the new form then.

Better to go to the source for the correct answer.  They are accepting two versions of the form.  The newest version did NOT come out March 1, 2022.

They are currently accepting two versions of the form.
