Hi all. Me and my partner have decided to go the CR1 route.

We are worried about processing times. We will be filing from Texas, the times are not too bad there, but we are worried it will be transferred to California or something. Is there any reason why our case would be transferred if Texas is processing those forms? Surely there is no reason for it to be transferred, but we don't want to start the process expecting a 12 month wait only for it to be 24 instead.

 Any help is much appreciated.

My case is in the Cali service center and i reside in North Carolina. I can sense your anxiety because i am as well. But there is a possibility the case can get transferred once the workloads start speeding up and getting better. I am a US Citizen and hope the whole process ends up taking about 2 years

Exactly!  Our case started in Nebraska, but USCIS (in their infinite wisdom), transferred it to Texas......but we lost no time.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

4 months after we filed the I-130, it was transferred.....then approved about 2 weeks later.

2016.....but I assume their procedures now seem to be the same.

Did you receive a transfer notice at the time?

A lot of cases are being transferred these days with no notice.

Not sure when ours was transferred but we started in Nebraska and are now at Vermont.
