K1 was approved (administrative processing)

My fiancée visa was approved today and they took her passport in US embassy Abu Dhabi and they told her to pick up her visa from the assigned post office in Abu Dhabi in one week (no recipe was given to her, they only took her passport). CEAC website now says administrative processing. Are all approved cases change to administrative processing? Thanks

Administrative Processing can simply mean they are working to actually affix the visa to the passport.  It used to be that AP was a nebulous term used by the consulates to show that a decision was not made yet and they were still working on the case, but recently they started using the term "refused" to signify that, and AP to show that work was actually being performed.  No one really knows all the ins and outs of what the COs use for the inline system, but once you reach "Visa Issued", you will be fine.

Thank you @Dashinka so I am assuming every case that is approved and passport was taking away will say administrative processing until it goes to visa issued.

Every case goes through AP. It is not just those that are approved. All cases go through AP at some point. As @Dashinka mentioned, it is simply a default status to notify that the case is being worked on. It doesn't mean it is refused, approved, denied, or forgotten about. It just means it is being worked on.

Actually, your case is not approved until after administrative processing has been completed and the status changes to "Issued".  Hopefully, that will be soon.  However, MENA cases sometimes take a while.

Thanks for this info. If it’s not been approved then how come they told her she will have visa in hand after a week and they told her passport? They also told her you are done here.

When they say it's approved at the interview, it's a conditional approval, baring no further issues come up in that final leg of administrative processing.  It typically isn't a big deal and usually things go smoothly, but occasionally there are some hiccups. Don't stress, it should be issued soon enough  

 

One person was stuck in AP for a while because their name was VERY similar to someone else and that other person had a criminal record.  The DoS had to do their due diligence and confirm that they were, indeed, different people and the person that interviewed was not the one who had the record.  It's, in part, why you're told never to sell your belongings and make travel arrangements until your visa is in hand.

our interview in Manila was on 02-24-22 and just got issued 03-07-22
