Success rate...

My marriage just ended this month, officially. The visa process was longer than the marriage. My husband and I had met in Peru and lived together there, but when he came here, he was so incredibly different. I'm wondering what kind of success stories people have with American female and latino male marriages.

And in general, with these visas, are there stats out on success rates??

You know, I have wondered the same thing before (not about US female/Latino male, but the other!).

Dunno if such stats exist. I'm gonna google it.

I wondered the same thing too.

I also wondered if there were statistics for denials of K visas, AOS, etc and what the reasons were.

For example, I have read here and elsewhere that adjusting on VWP is a "bad idea" but have seen many people do it no problem, I have wondered if a VWP adjuster had been denied because the USCIS could prove "intent to immigrate".

If anyone knows if such statistics are in the public domain, point me in the right direction!

I just found these stats, supposedly from USCIS, for 2003

3889 K-1's (fiancée) entered the USA

54.0% left the USA within 6 months

28.2% left between 6 months to one year

17.7% lasted more than one year

1546 K-3 (spouse) entered the USA

70.3% left the USA within 6 months

22.6% left between 6 months to one year

7.1 % lasted more than one year

Thanks for that, lacigarra.

Though does that 54% of K1ers mean they got divorced or that they just left to live elsewhere? Did it make that distinction?

IF these stats are based on divorces? Unfortunately no, I don't find it surprising.

I personally, do NOT find it surprising. Honestly seeing how SHORT of a time people are even physically in eachothers prescense...i mean people are getting K-! visas for people they've been in the same room as for 2 weeks...totally just me, but that's not enough to really really get to know someone.

IMHO.

I think people rush into it.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I am hoping that the large percentage that has left the US are all on vacation?? :D I would hate to think that they all end in divorce..... I think they should have statistics on if the couples are still married or not. What do you guys think??

I agree. These statistics would suggest that 93% of K3 marriages end in divorce within a year!??

Those are, um, sobering statistics, but we're reading them without all the information. They wouldn't be quite as scary if, for example, they included couples who had to depart the country due to military or government orders (as a substantial percentage of international marriages are military ones), or if they simply decided to go to the non-USCs country.

If that's not the case, then they're scary numbers. I always assumed that these international relationships had to be pretty strong to make it through all of this, and that these relationships would actually fare better in the long run.

Even if we don't stick it out in the States, we will stick it out with each other.(L)

"Supposedly" exactly. I can't find USCIS support for these. The stats as posted are from a site warning about Russian women immigration scams.
