Hello All,

Just curious...I passed through the NVC last week and my case in on the way to BKK. I will be in Thailand in a couple weeks as well.

Anyways, while I'm in Thailand, if the Packet 3 hasn't arrived at AAm's house, would it be acceptable to just go ahead and get the med exam done without the forms. From what I have been reading, it sounds like if you have the NVC case#, you can just schedule/complete the med exam....the doctor will already have all the correct forms and will fill them out entirely.

Am I mistaken in my thinking?

Peace to all,

The doctor Pao went to already had the forms. I came to the conclusion that the medical exam was good for one year, and can also be used to adjust status once whe gets to the USA so we went ahead and had it done. I'm leaving for Thailand on the 15th and return on the 23rd.

Hey Bill, which hospital did your fiancee go to?

Pao went to the one that starts with a "B" - hehe - I forget the name off the top of my head, but it was the least expensive of the two and she said it was a very nice hospital.

My wife went to Bumrungrad for her medical, this was about a year ago. She took the forms from the website and was told that they were incomplete. They did not have the forms at the hospital at that time, and was told to wait until her "packet" arrived, which by luck, happened to come in the mail that afternoon.

Are all the boxes on the checklist needs to be check off before sending it back to the embassy requesting for the interview? My fiance will have to wait about 3 week to recieve the medical forms from me after I recieve them from the embassy. Should I wait till she get her med. done before sending the checklist back?

after sending packet 3 you will have to wait for the interview date for about 4-8 weeks.

some of my friends have got interview date in January' 2006 after they sent packet 3 back on October 23-27. in my case I have just sent packet 3 back to the embassy this week, so I expect to get interview date in Jan as well.

you will have to check all the boxes that K1 visa required. for the medical exam, you will have to check also. even if you will get after 3 weeks by the time when the interview take place that will be ready.

Below are included in packet 3 I have sent to consulate

1. Checklist

2. DS230 part I

3. Photo (2)

4. copy passport

5. NVC letter (addition)

Good luck

Waen

Ps. you should send Packet 3 as soon as possible, so that you will know the interview date by November (Ihope mine too ;)

I thought that the only thing you need to sent back is the Checklist and the DS-230 part I, that's the first time I heard anything about the Photo (2) and copy of passport + the NVC letter. I also thought that you only need to bring the above listed #3,4,5 to the interview.

You need to send 2 passport style photos and a copy of passport along with a signed checklist and DS-230 part 1 back to the Embassy. This is written in 2 seperated papers in packet 3. It's not directly included in the instruction. (I wish I had a scanner) :hehe:

NVC letter is not necessary. It's only optional just to prove that your case has really been approved.

:o Look's like I'mma have to tell my fiance to sent me her photos tomorrow, hopefully it get here in-time. And bummer, she haven't got her passport yet. Waiting for a friend to drop off her passport isn't an option anymore, she's gonna have to go get it herself and scan it to me. Sux that's she don't have access to the scanner/e-mal, and fax machine where she's at. She'll have to travel to the big city just to get it done. Yea I wish you have a scanner too. Only if someone can scan a whole complete package of packet 3 for future refference. Man I gotta get it quick, cuz the Packet 3 is gonna be here anytime soon :o

Based on the at least 4-8 week projection from sending packet 3 checklist to the embassy and interview date, is it OK to return the packet 3 checklist and get the medical afterwards? There should be plenty of time to take care of it. I do realize that the whole point is to make sure you have all the required stuff before an interview is scheduled, but I just want to get the interview scheduled ASAP. If by some miracle of Buddha they were to schedule the interview in two weeks, My fiance could get the med done tommorrow so it wouldnt be a problem. We would definitely be ready. I can promise that. It is just real inconvenient work-wise for us to travel to Bangkok for the med and police cert in the next 3 weeks. She should be getting packet 3 in the next few weeks also. So I want to send the packet 3 checklist and then travel to Bangkok to get the med and police cert in about 4 weeks. I just want to get the interview scheduled ASAP so we can start widdling down that 2 month wait. Would the dates of med, police cert, interview granted be a problem? Does the embassy require notice from the doctor of completion of the medical before scheduling the interview?

as your time line stated that you got approval on Nov 2. you will be getting case number from NVC soon in next 1-2 weeks ( i m not sure maybe more my case took 6 weeks).

1. the police certificate expires in 3 months. also it will take at least 7 working days in order to get form the royal Thai police.

2. medical expires in 1 year. you can get the medical in 3-4 hours after you finish or you can pick up later.

The Embassy doesn't ask to send medical with packet 3, but when you check in boxes you have to show that you are ready for medical, then you will have plenty time to go check up.

all required documents shall be submitted on the interview date. in case you are lucky to get interview early and you are not ready for police certificate, medical, you can also go for the interview, then you submit some documents later (it happens) after that you will get visa.

It is ok to return the checklist and DS 230, plus other stuff to the Embassy before getting the medical exam and police cert. done. I did this too. I received Packet 3 on Dec 18 and I sent it back on 19. I waited until I was informed the interview date which is on Nov 30. I had the police cert. done on Dec 24 and I planned to get the medical exams done on Nov 15. No problem.
