Hi Everyone,

Well, its offical, Chutima and I are married! It took long enough, but it was worth the wait, although I could have done without the cost! :P

I have also received a job offer for a new job in Florida, so it looks like we're moving to the mainland. We were just there last week for the interview and to check out the area. Chutima and I both love it there, and we will be able to buy a house no problem! It is so much cheaper in Florida than Hawaii! :D

Here are some of the wedding pics! Wedding Pics

Aloha,

Robert & Chutima

The Wedding looks beautiful and a second congrats for the new job

Dave,

What is it that you are concerned about? What prompts this question?

Yodrak

Is it important to go to the amphur and get a letter from them saying my finacee is single? Or will a updated id card work if it says, "Ms" on it?

Do I need this?

Thanks,

Dave

Yodrak,

Nothing really. I just want all my bases covered. I want to make sure I don't get caught by anything. Our interview is in about 10 days and I will be joining her in Bangkok for it. I don't want the needle in the haystack to ####### me. So another fear: does the dates on the I-134 matter (can they be notorized after she sent in packet 3 checklist and Ds-230 part 1 in). I want to re-adjust this form before I go, seems like I gave incorrect information on the surrendor value of my Life insurance policy and don't want this to invalidate the form. So I want to get another one done on Wednesday!

Dave

We got a document in Thailand that said that my wife was single...but we have never had to use it. The reason we got it was because someone my wife knew told her that we would need it...so what the heck..I wanted to cover all the bases also so we got it.

Dave.. Relax sounds like you do have everything covered..really the interview is a piece of cake.

Best of luck to you both.

Mike

Thanks everyone. I hope we can move soon, so we can finally file for AOS. I don't want to file, then move! We still have a little more time on Chutima's I-94, so I'm not worried about going "out of status".

dbirner,

It means exactly what I wrote - the visa expiration date has nothing to do with when the person needs to get married or when they need to apply for adjustment.

Certainly the person must leave their country of residenc for the USA before the visa expires. But nothing that will occur after that is dependent on when the visa expires.

Now I am really confused... I thought with a K1 Visa you must be married before the 90 day mark at that time the visa expires. Am I wrong... Please educate me.

dbirner thanks for the information and good luck with the new adventure.

Pom Kid Thung Khun Krap,

When the visa expires is not relevant to either getting married or applying for adjustment.

Pom Kid Thung Khun Krap,

You need to marry within 90 days of entering the USA, the date that's written on the I-94. That could be before the visa expires or it could be after the visa expires.

Likewise, you should apply for AOS before the I-94 expires to keep from going "out of status". Too many days out of status can cause problems.

I am moving our photos off our website at americanthai.org to http://americanthai.photosite.com. I have just recently added photos from our weekedn trip last week to Niagra Falls Ontario. We made a stop in toronto to pick up some thai fruit we can't get in the US. I have never seen Paiwan so freakin excited about anything so far in her stay in the US as much as she was about getting her hands on some rambutan and some mangosteen.

umm.. I think it's time this thread come back to the earlier pages

well.. good news.. Bram just bought another BMW 530i (to replace the one i wreck  ) and is driving it back from Chicago. This one is also a good deal so it's cheaper than u'd think

Bad news.. my dog is diagnose with Bone cancer (Nym... something) and the doctor said she can live for about 2 weeks to 2 months.. 2 weeks aready passed and she is doing well with the medicine. She seems better now but I know it wont last long.. it's really heart breaking I love her so much. Her body is not making more blood and the white stemcell is very very low so she could also die from brusing. She seems happier now though.. since we spoile her to death with hamberger meat every meal

oh and sorry.. this has nothing to do with the visa process eieiei

Sorry to hear about the dog. Anyways, what are you supposed to take to the AOS interview when you already filed for the advance parole and work card. Most the stuff I already submitted. What should I use for supporting evidence of my relationship? So far I am taking

1 The wedding certificate

2 Birth Cert for both of us plus passport w/ I-94

3 Tax Returns

4 all the NOA's

5 Copyies of I-485

Am I forgetting anything??? Thanks for the advice

umm.. I remember at the interview Bram was asked to show his tax return 2005 which we didnt have with us so she said it was ok.. then coz bram is self-employed he showed her a letter from the company saying that he has a contract with them.. and we just talk talk and talk..

and I show her just one pic of our wedding. I brought wedding invitation too though.. and I also had a real estate licence with me to show that I'm trying to establish my life here (and Bram is a realtor too) She didnt ask for much.

You should also have her's translated birth cer too. I also have my health insurance with me (but she never asked for)

GOOD LUCK!!!
