We had our AOS interview in June 19th. It was a little bit like I had read from others reviews, but in the end we were told we would get a written repsonse in 2-4 weeks. our 2:30pm interview didn't start until 3:45. I am wondering if having a translator for her made them delay a decision? the interviewer did take the I-94 but not the EAD. the next day we recieved a case status email saying a Welcome letter had been sent out and Saturday we recieved the welcome letter in the mail stating she should get her green card in about 3 weeks.

Well, at least we are done with this for 21 months ...

now we can plan a trip to Niagra Falls Canada and our next trip to thailand. Now thats another story. she wants to go in april for new years and the water festival. But I looked at the historical weather data for April and I don't think I will survice the heat and humidity. But I may have convinced her to go in Feb or Mar! :-) she hasn't "officially" answered yet.

Thai2luv at least I was not the only one who did not like LAX as a POE.

Tell your S/O Welcome to America. I bet she did not hear that at POE

Our worst experience was with the baggage claim when we came through LAX. the actual entry process was uneventful. I don't think the POE officer said anything except what finger she needed to use to get scanned.

Congratulations to you both!!!! My wife got her PR card real fast after her AOS interview, like 5 days....however the USCIS was not nice to her

because she never got a "welcome to the US" letter...we are still waiting for that letter

What reason did they give you the ticket for?

Dan

Tell me you are kidding Dan, please. Who should have gotten the ticket? My friend is a State Trooper in Georgia and I can only guess at what the ticket was for but probably failure to maintain control of the vehicle or driving too fast for conditions. Anya, what was the ticket for?

ahhh... it said "operate a motor vehivle on a street or highway at a speed greater (70 mph) than was reasonable and prudent under the then existing conditions of rain and wet roadway

he said that it's just a precauation that he have to give me a ticket and he estimate me going 70 mph (speed limit of 65 or 70 i'm not sure.. i was driving on I-40) Is that ticket bad? he said normally it will go away after the insurance settle the charges or sth like that.. oh well.. my 1st ticket

the worse should be my insurance though.. coz my car is totaled.. so it should be 3 points. But i was thinking.. My accident was only the spining part and the car was not totaled... still able to repair. but the car that hits us.. that caused the car to be totaled.. so i'm not sure how they look at this situation and how many point i'm getting.. oh well...

we want to buy the same car though.. the BMW is very strong and it has a lot of steel!!! we looked and think that even we were in a car while other car was crashing in to us.. we would still be OK.. the passenger compartment has no damage and we really feel safe in that car..

dkm,

There are a few POEs where the immigration people will put a stamp on the I-94 that says 'employment authorized' with an expiration date that matches the expiration date of the I-94. JFK is the one that most people are familiar with, but there are others. Look here:

http://www.k1poelist.com/k1poelist.cgi

Unfortunately not many people report their POE experience so there's not much current information.

Yodrak

I read somewhere that K-1 applicant can apply for work authorization at the entry airport. Does anyone know, how that works?

Paiwan recieved her green card in the mail yesterday. she looked at and and said "its white. only a little bit green". she thought that was strange that all this talk about a "green" card turned out to be mostly white.

I just noticed that the whole process we went through took almost EXACTLY 1 year. Yet, it feels like so much longer. Now we have 21 months before we do the final application .... I hope we don't forget! :P

EAD stands for Employment Authorization Document. If you applied for one you certainly should have already received it. I'm hoping since you are unsure what it is for that you did not spend the money and apply. Her interview is a little over a month away.
