Yes...she had done her medical, paid postal, and police certificate on May 17. Ok...I'll download the forms. My fiancee is the same, she only has conversational ability only. How soon can she send in packet 3?

Bill,

Now complete all the packet 3 forms and wait for the Embassy's original packet 3 to come by mail. Have your fiancee complete the original checklist. If I remember correctly, the completed checklist along with the DS230 part I (unsigned), 2 passport photos and a copy of passport, will be mailed back to the Embassy. The original packet 3 will instruct your fiancee of exactly what to mail along with the checklist.

Oh, you better write "ATTN: IV UNIT" on the outside of the envelope.

After the Embassy receives the completed checklist, an interview date will be scheduled. You can check your interview date on the BKK Embassy website using your original case number.

Bill

If the embassy has your case you can send the completed checklist along with the DS230 part I (unsigned), 2 passport photos and a copy of passport, in before receiving the packet 3. As soon as I knew they had our case we sent in the above documents and we saved a month. My wife is Cambodian so the packet 3 was sent to me. That took 3 weeks alone.

Hi Samsbs

Thank you for your reply. My fiancee sent me sms that she just received packet 3. I will send in packet 3 tomorrow. I should known that I can send in packet 3 before receiving it from the embassy. Once again thank you very much.

Bill

Are you doing the paper work for your fiancee, or is she doing it herself?

My fiancee, Wan, has only conversational English ability. The forms were somewhat confusing for her, so I completed most all the paperwork.

Hey all,

I had a issue come up with a friend I am helping and he is not able to attend the interview or fly with his S/O back to the states and she had only conversational skills also.. On the airplane they will give her a I-94 form and a customs form 6059b.

6059b sample form

Also no meat even if it is dried they will take it. Dried sefood is ok . but pork, chicken and beef is a no go.

You may want to visit a airport and get the forms and fill them out and mail to her or just make a mock up of the forms with the info she needs to fill out and send them to her so she can copy..

No dried beef? I left bangkok airport on feb 28, 2006. I brought back some beef jerky from Thailand with no problems. Did they just made rule recently?

Most processed and prepackaged foods are allowed in small limited quantities as personal effects and/or gifts. These items should be declared at the port of entry on form 6059-B. Exceptions may apply due to mad cow, the avion flu, and other risks.

However, if you don't declare it, then it's likely Customs/USDA will never know, unless you are unlucky enough to have your bags examined.

When travelling by myself I don't have any problems because my bags are never searched. The 2 times I have travelled with Ying our bags have been x-rayed and 1 time they were searched. At least in Minneapolis a large percentage of the asian passengers get their bags searched even if they say that they do not have any food.

Yes, You are correct. I went thru with a lot of things when I was by myself but when I went thru with Tik every thing changed. We had pork (packaged) jerky and it was all taken - no big deal but I did like the taste of the Jerky. They said it was due to mad cow- Avian flu ect ect.

I do not know if you can get the forms at the airport but if you could it would be a big help to your s/o on poe if she cant read or write english.

Tiksman,

Good suggestion, that's what I did for my wife also - filled out most of the information for the I-94 and Customs Declarations on extra forms that I had picked up in my travels and sent them to my wife as e-mail attachments for her to copy when she got the forms on the plane. She only had to fill in a few of the items that were unknown in advance.

Hey Anya, you might appreciate this... the day we went for our K-1 interview, Kat English was sitting in a chair right in front of us! :o

I should have known it at the time, but I didn't realize it until I played one of my favorite VCDs, "2002 Ratree" and saw her! Chutima says "oh yeah, that was the girl at the Embassy", like it was no big deal! :o It's probably good I didn't know, so I didn't try to get her autograph!!! Now if it had been Jintara... I would have DEFINITELY asked her for her autograph!!! :D

Chutima had pointed out to me once before, when watching a Bird VCD, when he performed "Fan Ja" with Jintara, Kat English, and Nat Myria in it, but I forgot about it until yesterday!

After the Ebmassy receives the packet 3, they will schedule an interview date. You can confirm the date by email and/or on the BKK Embassy website. I sent an email inquiry.

It took about 2 weeks to receive the packet 4 after they confirmed receipt of the packet 3.

Reply to Robert....

That is so cool that you saw Kat in person, that's one of the things I like about Thailand. Me and Pan saw many movie stars and singers (Thai) in Thailand as well. They were so down to earth, they even took time to speak with Pan and took lots of pictures together with them. Unlike the movie stars we have in US, but I suppose that maybe a different level to Thai stars.

Also, I love Thai Jerky, Pan's been cooking a storm since she arrived in US. I think I've lost 5 pounds due to the hot Thai spices...lol

Smgx4000, a heads up for you:

1) We never got any confirmation that BNK received our package from NVC

2) We never received a Packet 3

We waited about 3 weeks after the date when the NVC claimed they mailed our package to BNK embassy then mailed in the Packet three response to the IV Unit at BNK.

3) We never received a confirmation of receipt for Packet 3 but we did receive packet 4 (with an interview date) a little over a week after we sent Packet 3.

Follow thai2luv's advice, email the embassy! they are not always consistant.

Best of luck,

Jim
